4seven TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On 4seven Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 7 programmes · 6pm–1am

4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.

It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Everything in the table below has already gone out somewhere else on the network. Tonight, Friday 14 August 2026, A Place in the Sun opens the evening at 6pm, with Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port following into the 7pm hour.

What’s on 4seven today

Friday’s daytime opens with American Pickers at 9am, then Find It, Fix It, Flog It at 10am and Saving Country Houses with Penelope Keith at 11am, before A Place in the Sun takes over at midday and repeats twice more, at 1pm and 2pm. Come Dine with Me runs five episodes from the same Bury week between 3pm and 5pm, then A Place in the Sun rounds off the daytime schedule with two further editions back to back at 5:30pm and 6pm, the second of which carries straight into primetime.

Overnight opens with the 2023 drama How to Have Sex at midnight, followed by Gogglebox at 1:50am and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown at 2:50am. Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port takes the 3:50am slot, and teleshopping fills the schedule from 4:45am through to 9am.

4seven tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the 4seven primetime line-up for tonight, Friday 14 August 2026.

A Place in the Sun — 4seven, 6pm

A Place in the Sun rounds off the daytime run before primetime with a search on Gran Canaria, where a father and son are hunting for somewhere the wider family can use together on a budget of £120,000 (series 2024, episode 57). It’s a repeat from earlier in the week, one of five A Place in the Sun outings on the schedule today.

Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port — 4seven, 7pm

Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port opens the evening proper with a look at one of the country’s busiest freight crossings, following dockers shifting thousands of tonnes of steel while Border Force staff work a separate case involving suspect packages (series 2, episode 8). A Remembrance service held at the port for both World Wars gets its own segment.

Renovation Rescue — 4seven, 8pm

Presenters Vogue and Luke step into Renovation Rescue at 8pm to help a widow whose building project stalled halfway through, turning an unfinished house back into something she can settle into (series 2, episode 3). It’s the sort of makeover format 4seven leans on heavily once the property shows finish for the day.

24 Hours in A&E — 4seven, 9pm

The 9pm slot goes to 24 Hours in A&E, following three separate admissions through one department: a 44-year-old having a cardiac arrest at home, a 94-year-old with a head injury, and a five-year-old who hurt her leg dancing (series 34, episode 3). The format’s strength has always been the fixed cameras rather than any single case, and this episode is no exception.

999: On the Front Line — 4seven, 10pm

999: On the Front Line moves the focus to paramedics for the 10pm hour, riding along as crews respond to a young man found unresponsive outside a nightclub, a woman in the middle of a sickle cell crisis, and another with severe chest pain (series 10, episode 8). Three call-outs, three very different outcomes to manage on the move.

Gogglebox — 4seven, 11pm

Gogglebox closes out primetime with its regular cast reacting to the week’s television, this time taking in Celebrity Race Across the World and the Squid Game spin-off The Challenge among the clips chosen for the sofa treatment (series 26, episode 11). It’s the second Gogglebox outing of the day on 4seven, after an earlier compilation ran overnight.

What kind of shows are on 4seven

The week’s biggest talking points, repeated

Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox turn up constantly, alongside whatever drama or documentary dominated the week. Miss something on a Tuesday and there’s a decent chance it’s back by Friday.

Property and renovation favourites

Property does most of the heavy lifting. A Place in the Sun, Grand Designs and George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations all repeat well, partly because the audience for them doesn’t much mind having seen the episode before. Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids sits in the same bracket, though it’s family factual rather than a competition.

Panel shows, food formats and factual filler

The rest of the day is 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Come Dine with Me, and clip-led factual like Car S.O.S and American Pickers. Cheap to re-run, all of it.

How to watch 4seven

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find 4seven across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 49
Sky 137
Virgin Media 143
Freesat 127

4seven is free on all of the above platforms, with no subscription required. As with any Freeview or Freesat channel, your on-screen guide is the definitive source if your box shows a different number.

Streaming online

4seven streams live and free at channel4.com/now/4s and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android and Amazon Fire TV. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Many of the individual shows that have aired on 4seven also turn up on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform, though not everything broadcast stays available indefinitely.

4seven sister channels

4seven is one of four channels in the Channel 4 network, all run by Channel Four Television Corporation. Channel 4 itself carries the original commissions everyone talks about first. E4 leans younger, with US imports and reality formats. More4 handles the documentaries and factual output, a fair amount of which ends up back on 4seven in the daytime. Film4 is the film channel.

Verdict

4seven does one job. It’s the closest thing British television has to a weekly highlights reel, and it costs nothing. The 7pm to 10pm run is where it earns its place; the daytime is filler for anyone who likes property shows and dinner parties.

Friday’s headline slot goes to 24 Hours in A&E at 9pm, sandwiched between Renovation Rescue at 8pm and 999: On the Front Line at 10pm, with Gogglebox closing the night at 11pm. A Place in the Sun closes out the daytime with back-to-back editions at 5:30pm and 6pm before Dover 24/7: Britain’s Busiest Port takes the 7pm hour. Everything before that, from the run of A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me editions at lunchtime to Saving Country Houses with Penelope Keith at 11am, is a second pass at something the Channel 4 network already broadcast that week.
