EntertainmentGREAT! Movies is a free-to-air film channel that spent well over a decade as a normal terrestrial fixture before an autumn 2025 shake-up changed how you find it. It began life on Sky in May 2012 as Sony Movie Channel, reached Freeview in 2017, and was renamed GREAT! Movies in 2021 when Narrative Entertainment UK Limited bought Sony Pictures Television’s UK free-to-air channels. On 4 September 2025 sister channel GREAT! Mystery took its easy-to-find Freeview 50 slot, and GREAT! Movies moved to Freeview 62, a connected Freeview Play channel needing broadband as well as an aerial; on Sky and Virgin Media its old numbers were rebranded to GREAT! Mystery outright. Tonight, Tuesday 14 July 2026, the pick of the schedule is the 9:09pm slot: Supercell, the 2023 disaster thriller with Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin, following a teenager pulled into his late father’s storm-chasing tour business just as it steers a group of paying thrill-seekers into the path of the season’s most dangerous cell. Every way to actually find the channel is set out further down the page.

What’s on GREAT! Movies today
The overnight hours open with The Hunter’s Prayer at 2:46am, the 2017 thriller with Sam Worthington as a hitman who can’t bring himself to shoot the woman he’s been hired to kill, setting the pair on the run across Europe together. Abilene Town follows at 4:20am, the 1946 Randolph Scott western with a Kansas marshal caught between cattlemen and homesteaders on the edge of a range war, and Death Rides a Horse closes the small hours at 6am, the 1967 spaghetti western starring Lee Van Cleef as a paroled gunman whose own revenge mission crosses paths with a younger man hunting the same outlaws.
Air Rescue, a factual series following helicopter emergency crews, fills the mid-morning in five short segments from 8:02am. From mid-morning the channel returns to the made-for-TV crime run it leans on hardest: Hidden Crimes at 10:15am and Secrets That Kill at 11:50am work through family secrets and small-town intrigue, before Ring Of Deceit at 1:23pm turns to art-world deception and A Mother Betrayed at 2:58pm to a domestic thriller from prolific Lifetime director Michael Feifer. Pretty Little Stalker, a stalker thriller also known as The Danger of Positive Thinking, leads into the evening films at 4:30pm.
GREAT! Movies Tonight — Primetime and the Evening Schedule
Here’s the GREAT! Movies primetime line-up for tonight, Tuesday 14 July 2026.
Flirting with Danger — GREAT! Movies, 6pm
Charisma Carpenter headlines this 2006 thriller as a woman who draws a grieving lawyer into an affair after his best friend’s sudden death, only for him to start suspecting she’s connected to a string of dead men. Nothing subtle about it, but it moves fast enough to earn the early evening slot.
I Do, Or Die: A Killer Arrangement — GREAT! Movies, 7:35pm
Ana Golja plays a teenager whose parents spring an arranged marriage on her at her own 18th birthday party, a plan that turns nasty once the community leader pushing it refuses to take no for an answer. A 2020 thriller built entirely around the dread of a wedding nobody but the groom’s family actually wants.
Supercell — GREAT! Movies, 9:09pm
The night’s headline slot belongs to Supercell, a 2023 disaster thriller with Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin in the cast. Daniel Diemer plays a teenager trying to carry on his late father’s storm-chasing business, only to find himself the star attraction on a tourist trip led straight toward the most dangerous cell the crew has ever tracked. It’s a modest production rather than a blockbuster disaster movie, but that cast brings more conviction to it than the premise strictly needs, and it’s the closest thing to a proper event film in tonight’s line-up.
Eliminators — GREAT! Movies, 10:54pm
Scott Adkins closes the night as a former federal agent hiding out in witness protection, dragged back into the open when the contract killer he testified against comes looking for him. James Nunn’s 2016 actioner leans hard on its fight choreography, including a scrap staged inside a Thames cable car, and asks nothing more of anyone still watching past eleven than a decent punch-up.
What kind of films are on GREAT! Movies
Classic Hollywood and westerns
The overnight schedule leans on GREAT! Movies’ deepest library: 1950s and ’60s Hollywood, from John Wayne westerns to Alan Ladd dramas, picked up over more than a decade of broadcasting.
Lifetime-style crime and thriller movies
Daytime is dominated by the made-for-TV thriller that Lifetime and similar US networks turn out at pace: missing-person mysteries, wedding-day dangers and family secrets, mostly running a tight 90 minutes around a single twist.
Contemporary action and thriller premieres
The evening slots carry newer titles, generally films that had a cinema or streaming release in the last five to twenty years. Tonight’s line-up shows the range: Flirting with Danger and I Do, Or Die: A Killer Arrangement keep to the channel’s bread-and-butter peril thrillers, before Supercell brings proper Hollywood names in Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin to a disaster-movie setting, and Eliminators closes on an altogether blunter Scott Adkins actioner.
How to watch GREAT! Movies
Channel numbers
GREAT! Movies isn’t where it used to be. Here’s where to actually find it now:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview (connected Freeview Play) | 62 |
| Freely | 57 |
| Sky | No longer available under this name (became GREAT! Mystery, September 2025) |
| Virgin Media | No longer available under this name (became GREAT! Mystery, September 2025) |
| Freesat | Not currently listed |
| Great! Player | Free app, no channel number needed |
Until 4 September 2025, GREAT! Movies sat on Freeview 50 and Sky 321 as a normal, aerial-only channel. That day GREAT! Mystery took the terrestrial Freeview 50 slot and the old Sky and Virgin numbers, while GREAT! Movies dropped down to Freeview 62 as a connected Freeview Play channel. It’s still completely free either way, just less simple to stumble across than it once was.
Streaming online
GREAT! Movies streams free through Great! Player at great-player.com, no account required, with apps for Amazon Fire TV, YouView, and Samsung and LG smart TVs, plus the App Store and Google Play. It carries a library of past films alongside the live stream, doubling as catch-up if you miss something on the night.

Frequently Asked Questions
What channel is GREAT! Movies on Freeview?
Channel 62, a connected Freeview Play slot since 4 September 2025 that needs a broadband connection as well as an aerial. It won’t work on older Freeview boxes or standalone recorders without internet access. It’s also on Freely, channel 57.
Is GREAT! Movies still on Sky and Virgin Media?
Not under this name. Its old Sky slots (321, HD 318, +1 322) and Virgin Media slot were permanently rebranded to GREAT! Mystery in the September 2025 swap. Great! Player is the way to watch it if your TV isn’t set up for Freeview Play or Freely.
What’s on GREAT! Movies tonight?
Tonight, Tuesday 14 July 2026, the evening runs through Flirting with Danger at 6pm and I Do, Or Die: A Killer Arrangement at 7:35pm, before the headline title, Supercell with Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin, takes the 9:09pm slot. Eliminators, the Scott Adkins actioner, closes the night at 10:54pm.
Is GREAT! Movies free to watch, and does it carry adverts?
Yes, entirely free on Freeview Play, Freely or Great! Player. It carries advertising during films like any commercially funded channel, but no subscription or sign-in is needed anywhere.
Who owns GREAT! Movies?
Narrative Entertainment UK Limited. It launched on Sky in May 2012 as Sony Movie Channel, reached Freeview in January 2017, was renamed Sony Movies in 2019, and became GREAT! Movies in May 2021 after Narrative Capital’s acquisition of Sony’s UK free-to-air channels.
What are the GREAT! sister channels?
GREAT! Action (Freeview 42), GREAT! TV (Freeview 34), GREAT! Romance (Freeview 52) and GREAT! Mystery (Freeview 50), the last of which took over GREAT! Movies’ old, more prominent Freeview slot in September 2025. All stream free via Great! Player.
Can I watch GREAT! Movies online for free, and is there catch-up?
Yes, through Great! Player at great-player.com, with apps on Freeview Play, Freely, YouView, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung and LG smart TVs. No account is needed, and the film library doubles as catch-up.
Verdict
The films on GREAT! Movies haven’t changed much: solid Lifetime-style thrillers by day, punchier and occasionally properly cast titles by night, tonight’s Supercell a good example of the latter. What’s changed is how hard you now have to work to find them. Losing Freeview 50 to GREAT! Mystery in September 2025, and disappearing from Sky and Virgin Media altogether, turned a channel you could once stumble across into one you need to actively seek out.
That’s a real step down in convenience, and it’s hard not to mark the channel down for it even though the programming itself hasn’t got worse. Tonight’s line-up makes the case well enough. Flirting with Danger and I Do, Or Die: A Killer Arrangement open the evening in the channel’s usual peril-thriller mode, efficient and forgettable in equal measure. Supercell then brings a genuine disaster-movie cast in Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin, carrying a storm-chasing plot with more conviction than its modest budget really allows. Eliminators closes the night in a completely different register, Scott Adkins working through a witness-protection thriller for anyone still up at eleven. Worth the extra step of finding it, even if Narrative Entertainment hasn’t made that step easy.
