EntertainmentE4 is Channel 4’s younger-skewing entertainment channel, built around US comedy reruns, reality formats and, on weeknights, the Hollyoaks first-look. Tuesday keeps the standard weekday shape: Hollyoaks at 7pm flanked by two Simpsons runs, before Below Deck’s new episode leads into Gogglebox at 9pm, First Dates at 10pm and Naked Attraction closing out the night. Daytime sticks to the usual weekday mix: Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA, Couples Come Dine with Me, and sitcom blocks of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family. Freeview 13, Sky 135, free to stream via Channel 4’s streaming service and channel4.com. Adverts, no subscription. Below is the full E4 schedule for Tuesday 21 July 2026, plus channel numbers and how to stream.

What’s on E4 today
Tuesday’s early hours run E4’s usual overnight loop: First Dates just after midnight, Below Deck at 1:15am, then a comedy run of The Simpsons, Abbott Elementary, The Goldbergs and three episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine through to just before 5am. Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA airs at 5:10am, ahead of two Hollyoaks episodes from 6am and Couples Come Dine with Me at 7am.
Gordon Ramsay is back for two more episodes of Kitchen Nightmares USA from 8am, then America’s Funniest Home Videos and Below Deck carry the schedule to midday. The Simpsons runs four episodes from 12pm, Brooklyn Nine-Nine takes the early afternoon, and Modern Family fills four half-hour slots from 3pm before The Simpsons returns to lead into tonight’s line-up.
E4 Tonight — Primetime and the Evening Schedule
Here’s the E4 primetime line-up for tonight, Tuesday 21 July 2026.
The Simpsons — E4, 6pm
The evening opens with “Simple Simpson”, from the show’s fifteenth season.
Hollyoaks — E4, 6:30pm
A repeat of Monday’s episode sits at 6:30pm, a chance to catch up before the new instalment an hour later.
Hollyoaks — E4, 7pm
E4’s 7pm slot is where Hollyoaks lands first, a full day ahead of Channel 4’s own broadcast, and it remains the fixed point around which the rest of the weeknight schedule is built. Tonight’s new episode has Beth confronting something from her past, while a separate storyline pushes an ongoing investigation into new territory. For regular viewers this is still the slot that matters most; everything else on E4 tonight is scheduled either side of it.
The Simpsons — E4, 7:30pm
The 7:30pm episode, “‘Cue Detective”, is a later-era instalment from series 27, some way removed from the classic run E4 also holds the rights to.
Below Deck — E4, 8pm
A new episode of Below Deck arrives at 8pm. Fraser takes a hard line with Solène tonight, and her frustration doesn’t stay contained to the crew mess.
Gogglebox — E4, 9pm
Gogglebox brings its usual sofa-bound commentary on a mixed bag of recent broadcasts, an hour rather than the extended double bill the show sometimes gets.
First Dates — E4, 10pm
First Dates follows at 10pm with another round of blind dates at the Paternoster Square restaurant.
Naked Attraction — E4, 11:05pm
Naked Attraction closes the night at 11:05pm with “Marlie & Adam”, the second instalment of the revived series two.
Popular shows on E4
Reality
Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition. It runs in long blocks of three or four episodes a week, with strangers paired by “experts”, married at the first meeting, then filmed at dinner parties where the rows happen. The UK version, Married at First Sight UK, plays quieter; the couples tend to absorb the pressure rather than blow up at the table.
Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016. The format is the same each series: a couple of relationship coaches (currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson), a handful of celebrity clients, and a run of set-up dates with members of the public.
Gogglebox runs on Channel 4 on Friday nights. E4 carries repeats through the week.
Soap
Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995, and in E4’s 7pm first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It runs the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, but keeps the pacing fast and the cast young.
US comedy
The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor the daytime comedy schedule, and all three are on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the odd one out: E4 holds a deep enough library that you’ll get a season-3 episode from 1991 and a season-27 one from 2016 on the same afternoon. The early run is the reason people put it on; the later seasons are what’s actually scheduled most of the time.
How to watch E4
Channel numbers
Where to find E4 by platform:
| Platform | Channel Number |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 13 |
| Sky (Q, Stream, Glass) | 135 |
| Virgin Media / Freesat | Check your on-screen guide |
E4 is free-to-air on every platform. If you have a Freeview aerial, a Sky dish on any package, or a cable box, it’s included as standard. There’s no card to upgrade and nothing extra to subscribe to.
Streaming
E4 streams live and on demand for free through Channel 4’s app and channel4.com. The app covers smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and most streaming sticks. You register a free account with no payment details, and adverts play during programmes. The full E4 library sits there too: complete runs of Married at First Sight Australia and MAFS UK, the comedy catalogue, and Hollyoaks as catch-up after transmission.
E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family
E4 +1 is a straight one-hour timeshift on Freeview 30, so whatever runs at 7pm comes round again an hour later at 8pm.
E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot vacated by 4Music, and lives on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.
Both belong to the wider Channel 4 family alongside Channel 4 (the main channel, and where Hollyoaks airs the day after E4), More4 for factual and documentaries, and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money or government subsidy.
Frequently asked questions
What’s on E4 tonight?
Tonight, Tuesday 21 July 2026, Hollyoaks holds its regular 7pm first-look slot, sitting between two Simpsons episodes. Below Deck brings a new episode at 8pm, Gogglebox runs at 9pm, First Dates follows at 10pm, and Naked Attraction closes things out at 11:05pm. Check the schedule table above for the full day’s listings.
Does E4 have adverts?
Yes. E4 is a commercial channel and carries ad breaks on both linear TV and the streaming free tier. There’s no licence fee or subscription behind it. Watching a recording on a PVR, you can skip the breaks as usual.
When did E4 launch?
E4 launched on 18 January 2001 as a companion to Channel 4. It started as a subscription service before going free-to-air, and arrived on Freeview in May 2005. It was pitched at younger viewers from day one, and the diet of US imports and reality hasn’t changed much in the 25 years since.
Verdict
Tuesday’s E4 keeps the standard weekday shape. Hollyoaks holds the 7pm first-look, the daytime comedy blocks of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family run as usual, and Below Deck’s new episode leads into Gogglebox, First Dates and Naked Attraction through to close.
Hollyoaks is still the one worth catching live if you follow the soap week to week, given it airs a full day ahead of Channel 4’s own broadcast. Below Deck’s new episode at 8pm is a reasonable watch too for anyone following the current charter season.
Gogglebox at 9pm is comfortable rather than essential, mostly older episodes rather than reactions to the current week’s television. First Dates and Naked Attraction round off a fairly routine Tuesday for the channel.
