EntertainmentCBeebies is the BBC’s dedicated channel for children aged six and under, and it’s built differently from most children’s television: no adverts, ever, because it’s funded by the TV Licence rather than commercial breaks. It broadcasts every day from 6am to 7pm on Freeview channel 202, handing its slot over to BBC Four once the evening wind-down is done, and it streams live and on demand through BBC iPlayer. Today, Tuesday 14 July 2026, the daytime schedule runs its usual mix of long-running favourites and newer arrivals, from Roots and Fruits and Hey Duggee first thing to Bluey and Something Special through the day, before the wind-down takes over from 5pm with Football Fantastics and Rafi the Wishing Wizard, easing through JoJo & Gran Gran and Sarah & Duck into Clangers, BeddyByes and In the Night Garden, and closing with the CBeebies Bedtime Story at 6:50pm ahead of a 7pm sign-off. Below: what’s on CBeebies today, how the Bedtime Hour closes out the evening, channel numbers across every platform, and how to watch for free.

What’s on CBeebies today
CBeebies’ day starts, as it always does, with Roots and Fruits at 6am, followed by a run of five-to-fifteen-minute shows built for short attention spans: Bing, Teletubbies, Tee and Mo and Colourblocks all get their turn, with Bing back again at 6:45am before Mojo Swoptops carries the schedule past 7am. A double helping of Hey Duggee then leads into Bluey, Go Jetters and Peter Rabbit ahead of the hour.
Octonauts opens the 8am slot, with Numberblocks, Alphablocks, Piripenguins and Zog keeping the pace brisk through to Mojo Swoptops just before 9am. Bing, Yakka Dee! and Maddie + Triggs lead into Kiri and Lou and Froglets, and Twirlywoos rounds out the run before Something Special: We’re All Friends takes the 9:45am slot with its familiar mix of Makaton signing and Tumble Family songs.
Teletubbies reopens the schedule at 10:10am, with The Baby Club, Tiny Tunes and a new episode of I Can Grow It carrying things through to Hamza Loves Animals: Africa just before 11am. Vegesaurs, Bluey and Hey Duggee lead into Colourblocks and Teeny Tiny Creatures with Chantelle and Rory, and Our Family closes out the morning at 11:50am.
Big Cook Little Cook opens the lunchtime run at noon, followed by Dog Squad, Time for School and Waffle the Wonder Dog. Puffin Rock, Lu & the Bally Bunch, Maddie + Triggs and Piggy Builders keep the early afternoon moving, and a second episode of Something Special: We’re All Friends airs at 1:45pm.
The mid-afternoon settles into its usual mix of nature, numbers and gentle adventure: Teletubbies, Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures, Molly and Mack and Grace’s Amazing Machines carry things to 3pm, followed by Dodge’s Pup School, Vegesaurs, Octonauts: Above & Beyond and a lengthier Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Hey Duggee, Supertato and a new episode of The Weasy Family lead into Mojo Swoptops and a Bluey double bill that carries the schedule towards early evening.
By 5pm, the schedule turns towards its wind-down. Football Fantastics opens the run, Waffle the Wonder Dog and Rafi the Wishing Wizard follow, and JoJo & Gran Gran and Sarah & Duck carry things through to Clangers at 6pm, which is the cue for the Bedtime Hour to take over. Check the table above for the exact time of any show you’re after.
CBeebies Tonight — The Bedtime Hour Wind-Down
There’s no primetime drama slot on this channel. Instead, tonight follows the same nightly pattern CBeebies has run for years: three quiet wind-down shows, then the Bedtime Story, then sign-off.
Clangers — CBeebies, 6pm
The pink, whistling residents of a small, distant moon feature in tonight’s Clangers, the stop-motion revival of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin’s 1969 original. The show communicates almost entirely through whistles and Soup Dragon noises rather than dialogue, which suits the run-up to bedtime rather well.
BeddyByes — CBeebies, 6:10pm
BeddyByes follows MeMo and BaBa’s soft-spoken wind-down routine. It’s one of the newer additions to this part of the schedule, and quieter in tone than almost anything else CBeebies shows earlier in the day.
In the Night Garden — CBeebies, 6:25pm
Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and the rest of the cast drift through their nightly routine in In the Night Garden, now approaching two decades old and still one of the most soothing shows CBeebies has. It leans on repetition and soft lighting rather than plot, which is exactly the point.
CBeebies Bedtime Stories — CBeebies, 6:50pm
The day closes, as it always does, with the CBeebies Bedtime Story, an eight-minute read-aloud that’s been part of the schedule since the channel launched in 2002. CBeebies signs off shortly afterwards, handing its slot to BBC Four at 7pm.
What kind of shows are on CBeebies
CBeebies’ own commissions
A large part of the schedule is BBC-commissioned and built specifically for CBeebies. Hey Duggee, from Studio AKA and BBC Studios, has won multiple Children’s BAFTAs since it launched in 2015 and remains one of the most-streamed shows in CBeebies history. Something Special, presented by Justin Fletcher since 2003, is the longest-running preschool series in Britain and teaches Makaton signing alongside its Tumble Family sketches. Sarah & Duck, Numberblocks and Charlie and Lola are further homegrown titles that have stuck around for years because they simply do what they set out to do well.
Imported animated hits
CBeebies also brings in animation from further afield when it fits the channel’s tone. Bluey, made by Ludo Studio in Australia and co-commissioned with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, has been the single most-watched show on CBeebies since 2024, and its short, emotionally sharp episodes have won it an unusually large adult following alongside its target audience. Puffin Rock, an Irish-Canadian co-production, and Zog, based on Julia Donaldson’s picture book, round out a schedule that borrows freely from wherever the best preschool storytelling is happening.
Inclusive and accessible programming
Accessibility runs right through the CBeebies schedule rather than sitting in a single strand. Something Special was built from the ground up around Makaton signing for children with delayed learning and communication needs. The nightly Bedtime Story has featured episodes signed in British Sign Language and read in Braille, and CBeebies presenters regularly incorporate Makaton into their links between shows, so children who use it see it reflected back at them as a normal part of the day rather than a special add-on.
How to watch CBeebies
Channel numbers
Here’s where to find CBeebies across the main UK television platforms:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 202 |
| Freeview HD | 204 |
| Sky | 608 |
| Virgin Media | 702 |
| Freesat | 644 |
| Freesat HD | 608 |
CBeebies is free on all of the above platforms, with no subscription required, though a valid TV Licence covers all live BBC viewing in the usual way. Virgin Media and Freesat channel numbers can vary slightly depending on your box and region, so your on-screen guide is the definitive source if these don’t match.
Streaming online
CBeebies streams live and free on BBC iPlayer, both through a browser at bbc.co.uk/iplayer and via the BBC iPlayer app on smart TVs, games consoles, and iOS and Android devices. You’ll need a free BBC account, and a TV Licence covers watching live or on the day of broadcast. Full box sets of most CBeebies shows are also available on demand, often for weeks or months after they first air, so a missed episode during the school run is rarely gone for good.
CBeebies and CBBC
CBeebies and CBBC are sister channels that launched on the same day, 11 February 2002, and both sit under the BBC’s children’s programming arm. The split between them is purely about age: CBeebies is built for children aged six and under, with a schedule that runs 6am to 7pm and a heavy emphasis on gentle pacing, repetition and routine. CBBC picks up from where CBeebies leaves off, aimed at six-to-twelve-year-olds, and runs later into the evening with a faster, more varied schedule of drama, comedy and factual shows. If your child has recently outgrown Bing and Hey Duggee, our CBBC TV guide covers the next step.

Verdict
CBeebies does one thing and does it properly: preschool television with no adverts, no in-app purchases and no autoplay rabbit hole to worry about, because there simply isn’t an evening feed to fall into. The mix of homegrown shows like Hey Duggee and Something Special alongside imports like Bluey gives it more range than it sometimes gets credit for, and the Makaton signing woven through the schedule is something very few other children’s channels bother with at all.
Is it good for a toddler? Reliably so, and that’s really the whole test that matters here. The appeal on a Tuesday like today is in the routine rather than any single stand-out programme: the day builds steadily from Roots and Fruits at 6am to a genuinely well-designed wind-down, with Football Fantastics and Waffle the Wonder Dog from 5pm easing through Rafi the Wishing Wizard, JoJo & Gran Gran and Sarah & Duck into Clangers at 6pm, before BeddyByes and In the Night Garden take over from 6:10pm and the CBeebies Bedtime Story closes things out at 6:50pm and the channel switches off for the night. If you’re after appointment television, look elsewhere. If you’re after a channel that reliably gets a small child calm and ready for bed, CBeebies remains the best free option there is.
