4seven TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On 4seven Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 7 programmes · 6pm–1am

4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.

It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Everything in the table below has already gone out somewhere else on the network. Tonight, Thursday 20 August 2026, A Place in the Sun carries the channel into the evening at 6pm — the second showing of the Estepona edition from Channel 4’s daytime run — ahead of The Dog House at 7pm, The Piano at 8pm and Gogglebox at 9pm, with Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives and Celebrity Hunted closing out the night.

What’s on 4seven today

Thursday’s schedule opens overnight with Gogglebox at 12:05am (series 26), Social Media Monsters at 1:05am, Crime Scene Cleaners at 2:05am and Murder Case: The Digital Detectives at 3:05am. 24 Hours in A&E follows at 4:05am, then two hours of Teleshopping fill the small hours through to 9am.

American Pickers opens the daytime proper at 9am, followed by Find It, Fix It, Flog It at 10am and The Great B&B Challenge at 11am. A Place in the Sun then settles in for three editions from midday, handing over to Come Dine with Me at 3pm for a run of five half-hour episodes that carries the channel to 5pm. A Place in the Sun closes out the afternoon with two more editions either side of 6pm, the second of which opens tonight’s primetime schedule.

4seven tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Nothing on 4seven tonight, Thursday 20 August 2026, is new. Every slot below has already had its first outing elsewhere on the Channel 4 network this week; this is the second pass.

A Place in the Sun — 4seven, 6pm

This Estepona edition (series 2025, episode 35) had its first run on Channel 4’s daytime schedule; here it opens 4seven’s evening instead. A father and daughter go looking for a holiday base on the Costa del Sol.

The Dog House — 4seven, 7pm

Series seven, episode seven of the Woodgreen rehoming format. Staff try to pair prospective owners, Ellie among them, with a dog that actually suits their life rather than the one that looks best on the day.

The Piano — 4seven, 8pm

The finalists get their instructions for a concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall, with Jon Batiste on hand to steer them through what the series is billing as the biggest performance of their lives (series four, episode six).

Gogglebox — 4seven, 9pm

Series 26, episode 12 puts the sofa critics in front of the week’s most-talked-about telly, this time including reaction to the goings-on in the I’m a Celebrity jungle.

Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives — 4seven, 10pm

Series one, episode five. Christmas preparations run alongside the various personal projects the families are juggling this week.

Celebrity Hunted — 4seven, 11:05pm

Series seven, episode five closes the night. The fugitives make a public appearance in Leeds while the hunters close in, a reminder of how exposed “staying hidden” actually looks on camera.

What kind of shows are on 4seven

The week’s biggest talking points, repeated

Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox turn up constantly, alongside whatever drama or documentary dominated the week. Miss something earlier in the week and there’s a decent chance it’s back on 4seven within a few days.

Property and renovation favourites

Property does most of the heavy lifting. A Place in the Sun, Grand Designs and George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations all repeat well, partly because the audience for them doesn’t much mind having seen the episode before. Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids sits in the same bracket, though it’s family factual rather than a competition.

Panel shows, food formats and factual filler

The rest of the day is 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Come Dine with Me, and clip-led factual like Car S.O.S and American Pickers. Cheap to re-run, all of it.

How to watch 4seven

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find 4seven across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 49
Sky 137
Virgin Media 143
Freesat 127

4seven is free on all of the above platforms, with no subscription required. As with any Freeview or Freesat channel, your on-screen guide is the definitive source if your box shows a different number.

Streaming online

4seven streams live and free at channel4.com/now/4s and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android and Amazon Fire TV. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Many of the individual shows that have aired on 4seven also turn up on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform, though not everything broadcast stays available indefinitely.

4seven sister channels

4seven is one of four channels in the Channel 4 network, all run by Channel Four Television Corporation. Channel 4 itself carries the original commissions everyone talks about first. E4 leans younger, with US imports and reality formats. More4 handles the documentaries and factual output, a fair amount of which ends up back on 4seven in the daytime. Film4 is the film channel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Verdict

4seven does one job. It’s the closest thing British television has to a weekly highlights reel, and it costs nothing. The 7pm to 10pm run is where it earns its place; the daytime is filler for anyone who likes property shows and dinner parties.

Tonight’s line-up runs The Dog House into The Piano at 7pm and 8pm, then Gogglebox holds the 9pm slot before Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives and Celebrity Hunted carry the schedule to close, the latter finishing at 11:05pm. The daytime runs the same trick as ever, with A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me repeating in blocks right through the afternoon. Every one of them is a second pass at something the network already broadcast earlier in the week.
