4seven TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On 4seven Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 7 programmes · 6pm–1am

4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.

It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Everything in the table below has already gone out somewhere else on the network. Tonight, Sunday 30 August 2026, four unconnected editions of A Place in the Sun close out at 6pm and 7pm, Jimmy Doherty’s Big Bear Rescue opens a new series at 8pm, and 24 Hours in A&E follows at 9pm. Gogglebox at 10pm repeats the very edition Channel 4 aired at 7pm this evening, and 127 Hours, Danny Boyle’s 2011 drama, closes the night from 11:05pm.

What’s on 4seven today

Sunday’s schedule opens overnight with Celebrity Gogglebox at 12:05am and last week’s Gogglebox at 1:05am, then Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives at 2:05am and a two-part rerun of Spy Next Door: The Anna Chapman Story at 3:10am and 4:05am, before four hours of Teleshopping run the channel through to 9am.

Four in a Bed takes over from there — ten half-hour episodes back to back from 9am to 1:30pm, the first five from one series set in Kirkcudbrightshire, Cumbria, Morecambe and Skipton, the second five an older run that closes on its payment day. Location, Location, Location follows at 2pm, then Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds at 3pm. From 4pm, A Place in the Sun airs four times through to 7pm, but not as one continuous run: each edition comes from a different series and a different presenter, ranging from a 2019 search in Spain’s Costa Blanca to a 2025 one in Mojácar, and the last two carry the channel into tonight’s schedule.

4seven tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the 4seven primetime line-up for tonight, Sunday 30 August 2026.

A Place in the Sun — 4seven, 6pm

Sarah and Andy, a couple from Derbyshire, get help from Leah Charles-King finding a permanent family home — dog Ruby included — on Spain’s southern Costa Blanca, with £160,000 to spend.

A Place in the Sun — 4seven, 7pm

A different search with a different presenter straight after: Jasmine Harman helps Fiona and Andy weigh up options in Mojácar, on the Almería coast, chasing a beachfront place with a pool for £210,000. The two hours either side of 6pm aren’t one continuous house-hunt — they’re separate episodes from unrelated series.

Jimmy Doherty’s Big Bear Rescue — 4seven, 8pm

Jimmy Doherty takes on two polar bears that need a new home in Sweden, building what the series calls Europe’s largest polar bear reserve at his Suffolk wildlife park. It’s the first of three episodes, and one of the freshest repeats of the night: Channel 4 aired it only two days earlier, on the Friday.

24 Hours in A&E — 4seven, 9pm

Fly-on-the-wall casualty documentary from St George’s in Tooting. Tonight’s patients include a scooter rider with a head injury, a motorcyclist whose leg is at risk after a high-speed crash, and someone who came off worse in a run-in with the bins.

Gogglebox — 4seven, 10pm

This isn’t a fresh watch-along — it’s a rerun of the exact episode Channel 4 broadcast at 7pm this evening, a family-friendly clips compilation drawn from series 27 rather than the sofa-critics’ usual weekly review.

127 Hours — 4seven, 11:05pm

Danny Boyle’s 2011 drama closes the night. James Franco plays the climber pinned by a fallen boulder in a remote canyon, building to the amputation the film is best known for.

What kind of shows are on 4seven

The week’s biggest talking points, repeated

Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox turn up constantly, alongside whatever drama or documentary dominated the week. Miss something earlier in the week and there’s a decent chance it’s back on 4seven within a few days.

Property and renovation favourites

Property does most of the heavy lifting. A Place in the Sun, Grand Designs and George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations all repeat well, partly because the audience for them doesn’t much mind having seen the episode before. Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids sits in the same bracket, though it’s family factual rather than a competition.

Panel shows, food formats and factual filler

The rest of the day is 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Come Dine with Me, and clip-led factual like Car S.O.S and American Pickers. Cheap to re-run, all of it.

How to watch 4seven

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find 4seven across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 49
Sky 137
Virgin Media 143
Freesat 127

4seven is free on all of the above platforms, with no subscription required. As with any Freeview or Freesat channel, your on-screen guide is the definitive source if your box shows a different number.

Streaming online

4seven streams live and free at channel4.com/now/4s and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android and Amazon Fire TV. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Many of the individual shows that have aired on 4seven also turn up on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform, though not everything broadcast stays available indefinitely.

4seven sister channels

4seven is one of four channels in the Channel 4 network, all run by Channel Four Television Corporation. Channel 4 itself carries the original commissions everyone talks about first. E4 leans younger, with US imports and reality formats. More4 handles the documentaries and factual output, a fair amount of which ends up back on 4seven in the daytime. Film4 is the film channel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What channel is 4seven on Freeview?

4seven is on Freeview channel 49, part of the main line-up. No subscription is needed beyond a standard Freeview tuner.

What’s on 4seven tonight?

Four separate, unconnected editions of A Place in the Sun run through the afternoon and into 6pm and 7pm. Jimmy Doherty’s Big Bear Rescue opens a new three-part series at 8pm, then 24 Hours in A&E takes the 9pm hour. Gogglebox at 10pm repeats the same series 27 compilation Channel 4 showed at 7pm tonight, and 127 Hours, the 2011 Danny Boyle film, closes the night from 11:05pm. The schedule table above has the full day.

Yes, completely free on every platform, though it does carry advertising breaks during its schedule.

Can I watch 4seven online for free?

Yes. It streams live at channel4.com/now/4s and through the Channel 4 app; you’ll need a free Channel 4 account. Many shows also turn up on demand afterwards, though not every title stays available.

Verdict

4seven does one job. It’s the closest thing British television has to a weekly highlights reel, and it costs nothing. The 7pm to 10pm run is where it earns its place; the daytime is filler for anyone who likes property shows and dinner parties.

Tonight’s line-up runs two more unrelated A Place in the Sun episodes into the evening at 6pm and 7pm, before Jimmy Doherty’s Big Bear Rescue opens a new series at 8pm. 24 Hours in A&E follows at 9pm, and Gogglebox at 10pm is a straight repeat of the edition Channel 4 aired three hours earlier. 127 Hours closes the night from 11:05pm. The daytime runs the same trick as ever, with ten episodes of Four in a Bed filling the late morning and two further A Place in the Sun repeats before the evening run. Most of it is a second pass at something the network already broadcast earlier in the week — Jimmy Doherty’s Big Bear Rescue is the freshest, just two days on from its Channel 4 debut.

TV Radar Team is the byline on TV Radar's automatically generated TV guides — covering BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and beyond. Each evening's schedule is built from the published listings (titles, start times, run lengths and episode numbers) and checked against our listings data before publication, so you can decide in two minutes what to record and what to skip. These guides are generated automatically rather than written by hand; a human editor spot-checks them, but not every page is read before it goes live. Based in London, updated every day.
