Entertainment4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.
It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Everything in the table below has already gone out somewhere else on the network. Tonight, Monday 31 August 2026, A Place in the Sun at 6pm is followed by The Dog House at 7pm and Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds at 8pm. 24 Hours in Police Custody at 9pm is a repeat of the same episode 4seven itself showed at 12:55am, and Terminator: Dark Fate, the 2019 sequel with Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, closes the night from 10:15pm.

What’s on 4seven today
Monday’s schedule opens overnight with 24 Hours in Police Custody at 12:55am — the same “Ambush” episode that returns in primetime at 9pm — followed by Crime Scene Cleaners at 2:05am, Emergency Helicopter Medics at 3:05am and Building Monaco’s Superhomes at 4:10am, before four hours of Teleshopping run the channel through to 9am.
American Pickers, Find It, Fix It, Flog It and The Great B&B Challenge fill the late morning, one episode each. From midday, A Place in the Sun runs three times back to back, each one from a different series and presenter, before Come Dine with Me takes the afternoon from 3pm to 5pm — five half-hours from the same Lichfield week, in order (a different week from the one More4 is running at the same time). Two further A Place in the Sun episodes at 5:30pm and 6pm carry the day into tonight’s schedule; the 6pm edition is the same episode Channel 4 broadcast earlier this afternoon at 3pm.
4seven tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the 4seven primetime line-up for tonight, Monday 31 August 2026.
A Place in the Sun — 4seven, 6pm
The evening opens with a property search that’s already had one outing today. Gill and Chris are marking their 13th wedding anniversary by hunting for a cave house in the Granada countryside, with Laura Hamilton lining up the options. Channel 4 aired the same episode at 3pm this afternoon, so anyone who caught it then will be watching a straight repeat rather than something new.
The Dog House — 4seven, 7pm
At 7pm, The Dog House returns to the Wood Green rehoming centre. Puppies Poppy and Fizz are struggling to settle into kennel life and may need separating if either is to find a home, while Moose the Staffy tests whether he’s more dog than most households can manage.
Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds — 4seven, 8pm
Worth checking the channel before settling in for this one. Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer are on 4seven at 8pm with series 7, episode 1, revisiting a badly laid-out home in Wolverhampton and a cramped chalet in Lancashire, both built around wasted space. Channel 4 is running a completely different instalment of the same strand half an hour earlier, at 7:30pm — series 2, episode 3, following Kathleen and Tom’s Victorian semi in Newcastle. Same title, same presenters, two unrelated episodes on two channels the same evening.
24 Hours in Police Custody — 4seven, 9pm
The 9pm hour is “The Ambush”, part one of two, centred on a 17-year-old left with severe head injuries after being found by the roadside; his twin says he’d only gone to meet a girl, but detectives suspect it was a trap tied to a violent drugs feud. This is a repeat — the same episode opened 4seven’s overnight schedule at 12:55am earlier today.
Terminator: Dark Fate — 4seven, 10:15pm
The night closes with Terminator: Dark Fate, the 2019 sequel that brought back Arnold Schwarzenegger and, more to the point, Linda Hamilton. Its target this time is a young woman working on a factory floor, hunted by an assassin sent back for her, which pulls Sarah Connor into a fight she assumed had ended decades earlier.
What kind of shows are on 4seven
The week’s biggest talking points, repeated
Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox turn up constantly, alongside whatever drama or documentary dominated the week. Miss something earlier in the week and there’s a decent chance it’s back on 4seven within a few days.
Property and renovation favourites
Property does most of the heavy lifting. A Place in the Sun, Grand Designs and George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations all repeat well, partly because the audience for them doesn’t much mind having seen the episode before. Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids sits in the same bracket, though it’s family factual rather than a competition.
Panel shows, food formats and factual filler
The rest of the day is 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Come Dine with Me, and clip-led factual like Car S.O.S and American Pickers. Cheap to re-run, all of it.
How to watch 4seven
Channel numbers
Here’s where to find 4seven across the main UK television platforms:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 49 |
| Sky | 137 |
| Virgin Media | 143 |
| Freesat | 127 |
4seven is free on all of the above platforms, with no subscription required. As with any Freeview or Freesat channel, your on-screen guide is the definitive source if your box shows a different number.
Streaming online
4seven streams live and free at channel4.com/now/4s and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android and Amazon Fire TV. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Many of the individual shows that have aired on 4seven also turn up on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform, though not everything broadcast stays available indefinitely.
4seven sister channels
4seven is one of four channels in the Channel 4 network, all run by Channel Four Television Corporation. Channel 4 itself carries the original commissions everyone talks about first. E4 leans younger, with US imports and reality formats. More4 handles the documentaries and factual output, a fair amount of which ends up back on 4seven in the daytime. Film4 is the film channel.

Verdict
4seven does one job. It’s the closest thing British television has to a weekly highlights reel, and it costs nothing. The 7pm to 10pm run is where it earns its place; the daytime is filler for anyone who likes property shows and dinner parties.
Tonight’s line-up leans on repeats more than most: A Place in the Sun at 6pm is the same episode Channel 4 aired at 3pm, Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds at 8pm runs alongside a different instalment of the same strand on Channel 4 half an hour earlier, and 24 Hours in Police Custody at 9pm repeats 4seven’s own 12:55am showing. The Dog House at 7pm and Terminator: Dark Fate closing the night from 10:15pm round it out. The daytime follows the usual pattern, with American Pickers, Find It, Fix It, Flog It and a run of Come Dine with Me and A Place in the Sun episodes filling the hours before primetime. There’s nothing brand new on the channel tonight — that isn’t really the point of it.
