What’s on Channel 5 today — the daytime schedule

Milkshake! opens the morning from 5:45am with Paddington, Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol and the rest of the pre-school line-up, running through to Jeremy Vine at 9:15am. Storm & Alexis takes over at 11:30am, then 5 News at Lunchtime at 12:45pm hands over to Matt Allwright, who runs until 2:20pm.

The afternoon is given to a single film-length slot. The Book Club Murders (2024) is built around a book club whose members start dying one by one, and Natalie has to track down who’s responsible before her own daughter becomes a target. Tom Read Wilson opens a new series by retracing the Grand Tour that wealthy young Europeans once made as a rite of passage. The first stop is Paris, taking in Notre-Dame and the gardens at Versailles.

Corsica: Jewel of the Med — Channel 5, 8pm

The tenth and final part of this look at Corsica covers Bastia’s Canistrelli biscuit trade and the restoration of Napoleon’s statue in Ajaccio, alongside the island’s forests and coastline. It’s a reasonably thorough send-off for a series that has covered a lot of ground over ten episodes.

Alexander Armstrong in South Korea — Channel 5, 9pm

Armstrong sets aside his usual quiz-show patter for a straight travelogue, moving from K-pop’s reach abroad to older rituals around death and rebirth. The mix of pop culture and tradition gives the hour more range than the title suggests on its own.
