E4 TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On E4 Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 9 programmes · 6pm–1am

E4 is Channel 4’s younger-skewing entertainment channel: American sitcom reruns through the day, reality formats after dark, and the Hollyoaks first-look most weeknights at 7pm. Wednesday 5 August keeps that pattern going, and there are two Hollyoaks episodes rather than the usual one: episode 92 repeats at 6:30pm having already aired this morning, then a genuinely new episode 93 airs at 7pm as the first-look ahead of Channel 4. Vanderpump Rules opens a new series episode at 8pm, and Gogglebox fills the 9pm and 10pm hours with a pair of episodes from its twentieth series, an older run rather than anything new. E4 is free to air on Freeview and Sky, and free to stream through Channel 4’s app.

What’s on E4 today

The small hours are reruns: Gogglebox just after midnight, then Vanderpump Rules and Below Deck Down Under back to back, followed by an older Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA episode. A run of Simpsons and Goldbergs repeats carries the channel past 5am, then Brooklyn Nine-Nine leads into Hollyoaks at 6am and 6:30am, the pair of episodes weekday viewers get before breakfast.

Rude(ish) Tube Shorts and Couples Come Dine with Me fill the school-run hour, then two more Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA repeats either side of 8am and 9am. America’s Funniest Home Videos and a Below Deck Mediterranean episode take the channel into midday, then it’s largely sitcom reruns for the rest of the afternoon: four Simpsons episodes, two of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, four of Modern Family and a further three of The Simpsons carrying through to 6pm and the run into evening primetime.

E4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the E4 primetime line-up for tonight, Wednesday 5 August 2026.

The Simpsons — E4, 6pm

Series 6 fills the 6pm slot with “Fear of Flying” (episode 11). Homer gets barred from Moe’s and ends up mistaken for a pilot at an airport bar, while Marge sees a psychiatrist about her own fear of flying.

Hollyoaks — E4, 6:30pm

E4 replays this morning’s episode 92 at 6:30pm, an hour ahead of the genuine new instalment. Beth and Frankie’s row spills out into the village, and James works to keep his past buried.

Hollyoaks — E4, 7pm

The real first-look slot lands at 7pm with episode 93, a full day ahead of Channel 4’s own broadcast. Vicky keeps the truth from her family, grief finally catches up with Ste, and more than one storyline that’s been building starts to come loose.

The Simpsons — E4, 7:30pm

A much older episode follows at 7:30pm: series 27’s “How Lisa Got Her Marge Back”. Marge takes Lisa on a theatre trip to smooth over a rough patch between them, while Bart recruits Maggie for a run of practical jokes.

Vanderpump Rules — E4, 8pm

The new series continues at 8pm with “Crashout Queens”. New host Angelica catches Jason’s eye at the annual SUR photoshoot, and the triangle between Natalie, Kim and Marcus keeps generating friction.

Gogglebox — E4, 9pm

Two episodes run back to back from 9pm, both from series 20 rather than the current run. This one has the sofa critics working through I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, The Great British Bake Off, The Crown, Family Fortunes, Love Is Blind, Mammals and This Morning.

Gogglebox — E4, 10pm

The second half of the pair follows at 10pm, still series 20. Reactions this time cover The Crown, I’m a Celebrity, You Won’t Believe This, Down to Earth with Zac Efron and The Hidden Lives of Pets.

Naked Attraction — E4, 11:05pm

Katie from Bristol, a self-described “dating disaster”, hopes for a change of luck. Student James goes in looking for someone open-minded who shares his taste for heels and glitter.

Popular shows on E4

Reality

Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition and the one that reorders the whole schedule when a series is on. Three or four episodes a week, strangers paired off by “experts”, married at first meeting, then sat at a dinner party until somebody says the unforgivable thing. The UK version plays much quieter. Its couples absorb the pressure rather than detonate at the table, which is more realistic and considerably less watchable.

Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016 and has never changed shape: two relationship coaches, currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, a handful of celebrity clients, and dates with members of the public.

Gogglebox is a Friday-night Channel 4 show. E4 runs the repeats.

Soap

Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995 and in E4’s first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It takes on the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, while keeping the pace quick and the cast young.

US comedy

The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor daytime, and all three sit on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the exception to everything. E4 holds so much of it that a single day can jump across two decades of the show without anyone at the channel appearing to mind.

How to watch E4

Channel numbers

Where to find E4 by platform:

Platform Channel Number
Freeview 13
Sky (Q, Stream, Glass) 135
Virgin Media / Freesat Check your on-screen guide

E4 is free-to-air everywhere. A Freeview aerial carries it, and so does every Sky package as standard.

Streaming

E4 streams live and on demand for free through Channel 4’s app and channel4.com, covering smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and most streaming sticks. Registration is free and asks for no payment details. Adverts play regardless. The full E4 library is there as well, including complete runs of Married at First Sight Australia and MAFS UK, and Hollyoaks as catch-up after transmission.

E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family

E4 +1 on Freeview 30 is a straight one-hour timeshift, so 7pm here is 8pm there.

E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot 4Music vacated, and sits on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.

Both sit in the wider Channel 4 family alongside the main channel, More4 for factual and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money and no government subsidy, a distinction worth remembering the next time somebody complains about the adverts.

Frequently asked questions

What’s on E4 tonight?

Hollyoaks runs twice tonight: a repeat of episode 92 at 6:30pm, then episode 93 as a genuinely new instalment at 7pm, a day ahead of Channel 4. Vanderpump Rules opens a new series episode at 8pm, and Gogglebox airs two episodes from an older, twentieth-series run at 9pm and 10pm rather than anything new. Naked Attraction closes the night at 11:05pm. Times are in the schedule table above.

Does E4 have adverts?

Yes. It is a commercial channel, so ad breaks run on linear TV and on the streaming free tier alike. No licence fee, no subscription. Record it on a PVR and you can skip them as usual.

When did E4 launch?

E4 launched on 18 January 2001 as a companion to Channel 4, aimed at younger viewers from day one. It began as a subscription service, later went free-to-air, and reached Freeview in May 2005.

Verdict

Hollyoaks is the reason to tune in early tonight, with two episodes rather than the usual one: a repeat at 6:30pm followed by a genuinely new instalment at 7pm, a full day ahead of Channel 4. From there E4 leans on one new episode, Vanderpump Rules at 8pm, before settling into an older run for the rest of the night.

Worth knowing before the 9pm slot settles in: both Gogglebox episodes tonight belong to series 20, an earlier run rather than the current one. Fine for a rewatch, but don’t expect reactions to anything currently airing.

Wednesday’s line-up is a normal weekday one, and it starts with double the soap.
