E4 TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On E4 Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 5 programmes · 6pm–1am

E4 is Channel 4’s younger-skewing entertainment channel: American sitcom reruns through the day, reality formats after dark, and the Hollyoaks first-look Monday to Wednesday at 7pm. Sunday is the one day the soap appears without a new episode at all — the Omnibus rounds up the week at 6am and that’s it until Monday’s first-look returns. Tonight the schedule is built around live sport rather than the usual entertainment mix: E4 carries the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final from 7:30pm, kick-off 8pm, the first time a WAFCON match has been shown live on UK television. A new series of Lego Masters Australia opens the evening beforehand, and three episodes of The Inbetweeners close it out.

What’s on E4 today

Sunday opens with First Dates just after midnight, then three episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean run back to back from 1:15am, followed by two of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The Hollyoaks Omnibus rounds up the week’s episodes at 6am, the only place the soap appears today, and Modern Family and three more instalments of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA fill the rest of the breakfast slot.

Four episodes of The Simpsons run from 10:30am, then the family film Mr Popper’s Penguins takes the early afternoon at 12:25pm. A second Simpsons block, five episodes this time, carries the channel from 2:15pm to 4:10pm, before the reality series Cruising Paradise: Above & Below Deck fills the run-up to evening at 4:40pm.

E4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the E4 primetime line-up for tonight, Sunday 16 August 2026.

Lego Masters Australia — E4, 5:50pm

A new series of the Australian build-off arrives to open the evening, an hour ahead of tonight’s main event. Down Under contestants tend to go bigger and stranger than their UK counterparts, and the format has built a loyal following on E4 despite arriving well after the original Australian broadcast.

Live WAFCON Final: Cameroon v Malawi — E4, 7:30pm

E4’s coverage of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final begins at 7:30pm from the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off following at 8pm — the first time a WAFCON match has reached UK television live. Cameroon are appearing in a fourth final, having lost all three of their previous attempts to Nigeria, in 2004, 2014 and 2016. Malawi are the story of the tournament: complete debutants who reached the final at their first attempt, with sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga central to a run nobody outside the camp saw coming. Whoever lifts the trophy, it will be a name that has never won the competition before.

The Inbetweeners triple bill — E4, 10:45pm

Three back-to-back episodes close out the night from 10:45pm, working through series one’s third, fourth and fifth instalments. The sixth-form sitcom has aged into E4’s late-night comfort viewing, the kind of thing that gets left on after the football rather than sought out on its own.

Popular shows on E4

Reality

Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition and the one that reorders the whole schedule when a series is on. Three or four episodes a week, strangers paired off by “experts”, married at first meeting, then sat at a dinner party until somebody says the unforgivable thing. The UK version plays much quieter. Its couples absorb the pressure rather than detonate at the table, which is more realistic and considerably less watchable.

Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016 and has never changed shape: two relationship coaches, currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, a handful of celebrity clients, and dates with members of the public.

Gogglebox is a Friday-night Channel 4 show. E4 runs the repeats.

Soap

Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995 and in E4’s first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It takes on the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, while keeping the pace quick and the cast young.

US comedy

The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor daytime, and all three sit on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the exception to everything. E4 holds so much of it that a single day can jump across two decades of the show without anyone at the channel appearing to mind.

How to watch E4

Channel numbers

Where to find E4 by platform:

Platform Channel Number
Freeview 13
Sky (Q, Stream, Glass) 135
Virgin Media / Freesat Check your on-screen guide

E4 is free-to-air everywhere. A Freeview aerial carries it, and so does every Sky package as standard.

Streaming

E4 streams live and on demand for free through Channel 4’s app and channel4.com, covering smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and most streaming sticks. Registration is free and asks for no payment details. Adverts play regardless. The full E4 library is there as well, including complete runs of Married at First Sight Australia and MAFS UK, and Hollyoaks as catch-up after transmission.

E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family

E4 +1 on Freeview 30 is a straight one-hour timeshift, so 7pm here is 8pm there.

E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot 4Music vacated, and sits on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.

Both sit in the wider Channel 4 family alongside the main channel, More4 for factual and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money and no government subsidy, a distinction worth remembering the next time somebody complains about the adverts.

Frequently asked questions

What’s on E4 tonight?

Live sport takes over primetime: coverage of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final between Cameroon and Malawi runs from 7:30pm, kick-off 8pm, from the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. A new series of Lego Masters Australia leads in at 5:50pm, and a triple bill of The Inbetweeners closes the night from 10:45pm. No Hollyoaks this evening — the Omnibus already covered the week’s episodes at 6am. Times are in the schedule table above.

Does E4 have adverts?

Yes. It is a commercial channel, so ad breaks run on linear TV and on the streaming free tier alike. No licence fee, no subscription. Record it on a PVR and you can skip them as usual.

When did E4 launch?

E4 launched on 18 January 2001 as a companion to Channel 4, aimed at younger viewers from day one. It began as a subscription service, later went free-to-air, and reached Freeview in May 2005.

Verdict

Sunday is the one night E4 sets its usual entertainment mix aside for live sport. The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final between Cameroon and Malawi is the first WAFCON match any UK broadcaster has shown live, and E4 gets it: an hour and a half of build-up and match coverage from 7:30pm ahead of an 8pm kick-off, with a genuine underdog story behind it in tournament debutants Malawi.

The rest of the evening is short and functional by comparison. Lego Masters Australia opens with a new series at 5:50pm, and once the football wraps, three episodes of The Inbetweeners see the night out from 10:45pm.

Daytime keeps closer to E4’s normal shape — the Hollyoaks Omnibus at 6am, two runs of The Simpsons totalling nine episodes, and the usual Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA and Below Deck Mediterranean repeats through the small hours — so it’s really just tonight’s primetime that looks nothing like a typical Sunday.
