Tonight at a Glance 8 programmes · 6pm–1am

ITV2 has been ITV’s channel for the 16-34 crowd since December 1998, and since the 2015 Love Island revival it has essentially been the Love Island channel. Free on Freeview, free to stream live on ITVX. Friday 4 September 2026 has no Love Island tonight; instead the evening opens on quiz and entertainment formats, Celebrity Catchphrase, Wheel of Fortune and The 1% Club, before the channel gives the rest of the night over to The Dark Knight (2008), the Christian Bale and Heath Ledger blockbuster, from 9pm.

What’s on ITV2 today

Friday’s ITV2 day opens on overnight reruns, American Dad! and two Bob’s Burgers from different series, then Deal or No Deal at 1:30am, before Unwind with ITV and three hours of Teleshopping carry the small hours to 6am. Backyard Builds opens the proper schedule at 6am, Dinner Date follows at 6:30am, and the American Real Housewives franchise takes breakfast, Potomac at 7:30am then Beverly Hills at 8:20am.

The Only Way Is Essex airs at 9:15am, then a run of imports fills the late morning: Dawson’s Creek at 10:15am and Charmed at 11:10am. Deal or No Deal takes the early afternoon from 12:10pm, Supermarket Sweep follows at 1:10pm and Wheel of Fortune returns at 2:10pm ahead of a second Only Way Is Essex episode at 3:10pm. The Real Housewives double bill repeats through the back half of the afternoon, Potomac at 4:10pm and Beverly Hills at 5pm, running through to 6pm exactly as Celebrity Catchphrase opens the evening. There are no films in the daytime schedule — The Dark Knight, broken by a five-minute FYI Daily bulletin at 10:05pm, doesn’t start until 9pm.

ITV2 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the ITV2 primetime line-up for tonight, Friday 4 September 2026.

It’s a thin night on ITV2: three quiz and entertainment formats to open the evening, then the whole of the rest of the schedule handed to one film.

Celebrity Catchphrase — ITV2, 6pm

Celebrity Catchphrase opens the evening at 6pm, Stephen Mulhern hosting a charity edition with Kelvin Fletcher, Chris Ramsey and Heather Small playing for their chosen good causes (series 5, episode 8).

Wheel of Fortune — ITV2, 7pm

Graham Norton keeps the quiz run going at 7pm with Wheel of Fortune (series 2, episode 1), spinning contestants through the wheel-and-puzzle format ahead of the night’s main event.

The 1% Club — ITV2, 8pm

The 8pm hour belongs to The 1% Club (series 4, episode 7), Lee Mack’s logic-puzzle quiz.

The Dark Knight — ITV2, 9pm

The Dark Knight (2008), Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, takes over from 9pm. It’s interrupted just once, by a five-minute FYI Daily news bulletin at 10:05pm, before resuming at 10:10pm and running through to 12:10am. FYI Daily is back on ITV2 today after being absent from yesterday’s schedule.

What kind of shows are on ITV2

Reality TV and dating formats

Love Island is what the channel is built around, but the daytime schedule runs on the same fuel at lower stakes: Dress to Impress, Dinner Date, TOWIE, and imported American Real Housewives by the yard. Most of it is repeated within the same day, which tells you how it is meant to be watched.

Comedy and US animation

Family Guy, American Dad! and Bob’s Burgers hold up the late-night schedule. None of it is exclusive to ITV2 and none of it is new, but there is enough of it in circulation that a rerun is on somewhere between 11pm and 3am most nights.

Family films

Weekend evenings usually go to animated and studio comedy films, the Ice Age and Madagascar sort of thing.

How to watch ITV2

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find ITV2 across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 6
Sky 118
Virgin Media 115
Freesat 113
ITV2+1 on Freeview 29
ITV2+1 on Sky 218
ITV2+1 on Virgin Media 315
ITV2+1 on Freesat 114

ITV2 is free on all of the above platforms, no subscription required.

Streaming online

ITV2 streams live and free through ITVX, ITV’s streaming service, at itv.com/watch and via the ITVX app on smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV and most games consoles. You’ll need a free ITVX account, which takes a couple of minutes to set up and costs nothing. Full episodes of Love Island, Family Guy and most other ITV2 shows are also available on demand shortly after broadcast.

ITV2 +1 and sister channels

ITV2+1 repeats the schedule an hour behind, which is the fix for sitting down at 9.15pm and finding you have missed the opening. Numbers are in the table above. Beyond the timeshift channel, ITV2 sits alongside ITV1, ITV3 and ITV4, and a show premiering on ITV1 will often turn up on ITV2 later.

What’s on ITV2 tonight?

Friday’s evening opens on three quiz and entertainment formats, Celebrity Catchphrase, Wheel of Fortune and The 1% Club, before the channel gives the rest of the night to The Dark Knight (2008) from 9pm, interrupted only by a five-minute FYI Daily bulletin at 10:05pm and running through to 12:10am. There’s no Love Island tonight — see the table above for the full day’s listings.

9pm every night from Sunday to Friday during the main series. Saturdays get Love Island: Unseen Bits instead of a new episode, because the Islanders get the day off from filming.

Yes, ITV2 streams live and free on ITVX with no subscription needed, just a free account.

Verdict

Friday’s ITV2 is an honestly thin night. An hour each of Celebrity Catchphrase, Wheel of Fortune and The 1% Club carries the schedule from 6pm to 9pm, home-grown quiz and entertainment formats rather than the imported reality the channel sometimes leans on, and nothing here is appointment viewing.

After that, it’s a one-film evening: The Dark Knight (2008), with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, takes the whole of the rest of the night from 9pm, interrupted only by a five-minute FYI Daily news bulletin at 10:05pm before resuming at 10:10pm and running through to 12:10am. There’s no Love Island tonight, and the daytime schedule ahead of it runs on quiz shows and reality imports — American Real Housewives, The Only Way Is Essex, Deal or No Deal and Supermarket Sweep — see the table above for the full day’s listings.

TV Radar Team is the byline on TV Radar's automatically generated TV guides — covering BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and beyond. Each evening's schedule is built from the published listings (titles, start times, run lengths and episode numbers) and checked against our listings data before publication, so you can decide in two minutes what to record and what to skip. These guides are generated automatically rather than written by hand; a human editor spot-checks them, but not every page is read before it goes live. Based in London, updated every day.
