Legend TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On Legend Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 5 programmes · 6pm–1am

Legend is what the old Horror Channel turned into after its 2022 rebrand: still free to air, still fond of a monster, but now handing most of its evenings to sci-fi, fantasy and action cinema. Tonight keeps to that pattern, running an evening repeat block of The Six Million Dollar Man, Babylon 5 and Walker, Texas Ranger from 6pm before Gene Hackman’s Vietnam rescue mission Uncommon Valor takes the 9pm film slot, with the courtroom drama Rules of Engagement closing out the night at 11:10pm.

What’s on Legend today

The overnight double bill is Kickboxer: Retaliation at 1:10am, Alain Moussi’s MMA champion sedated and shipped to a Bangkok prison where he has to fight for his freedom (2018), followed at 3:15am by the sci-fi sequel Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, Patrick Bergin up against a computerised megalomaniac trying to seize control from inside cyberspace (1995). Legend goes off air at 5am and stays dark until teleshopping fills the 5:30am to 8am gap.

Daytime runs on Legend’s usual diet of American genre television. Walker, Texas Ranger opens at 8am with Walker, Trivette and C.D. uncovering a drug production operation on a fishing trip; C.D. and Trivette end up held prisoner by the dealers in the second half of a two-parter (S3E8). The Six Million Dollar Man follows at 9am, Steve working undercover as a member of a roller-derby team (S5E7), and Babylon 5’s third season continues at 10am as a deranged bomber targets the station while G’Kar and Londo find themselves stuck together in a lift (S3E2). Crystal Skulls fills the 11am slot, a 2014 adventure film in which a team of scientists races to recover twelve ancient Mayan skulls said to hold the key to averting the Earth’s destruction.

After the Legend Lowdown update at 12:50pm, Charlton Heston leads 1965’s The War Lord at 1pm, an 11th-century knight whose feelings for another man’s wife tip a province into civil war. Jack Nicholson heads the cast of 1966’s Ride in the Whirlwind at 3:15pm, three cowboys mistaken for a gang of outlaws and hunted by a lynch mob after a gruelling cattle drive. A second Legend Lowdown update airs at 4:50pm, then Star Trek: The Original Series brings the Romulans into the franchise for the first time at 5pm, an episode built around a tense battle of wits between Kirk and an unseen enemy (S1E14), before the evening repeat run of The Six Million Dollar Man, Babylon 5 and Walker, Texas Ranger begins at 6pm.

Legend tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the Legend primetime line-up for tonight, Wednesday 12 August 2026.

The Six Million Dollar Man — Legend, 6pm

Steve is sent to shut down a lunar mining operation after its drilling knocks the moon off its orbit, one of the stranger space-age premises the series ever built an episode around (series 5, episode 8).

Babylon 5 — Legend, 7pm

G’Kar faces removal as Narn officials arrive to take over his post, while an unfamiliar probe puts the station’s crew through a test they can’t afford to fail. Sheridan and Ivanova, meanwhile, have a dispute of their own to work through (series 3, episode 3).

Walker, Texas Ranger — Legend, 8pm

Alex becomes a target after she learns that a group of Dallas officers has been siphoning confiscated narcotics out of the evidence lockers, and one of them decides she needs silencing (series 3, episode 9).

Uncommon Valor — Legend, 9pm

Gene Hackman plays a retired colonel who, having spent a decade getting nowhere through official channels, puts together a private team of Vietnam veterans to go in after his son, still held in a prisoner-of-war camp (1983).

Rules of Engagement — Legend, 11:10pm

A military lawyer takes on the defence of a colonel court-martialled after ordering his men to open fire on a crowd that had stormed a US embassy overseas (2000).

What kind of shows are on Legend

Cult horror and its Horror Channel roots

Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.

Sci-fi, fantasy and action films

Most evenings belong to genre cinema of a specific vintage: Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, and further back, the fantasy adventures Ray Harryhausen animated. Film4 has the recent theatrical releases covered. Legend is working two or three decades earlier, and there is less competition for that ground than you would think.

Classic genre television

Very few channels still hand hours to vintage American genre TV. Legend does. The Twilight Zone runs as a nightly double bill, and Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Six Million Dollar Man fill most weekday daytimes.

How to watch Legend

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find Legend across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 41
Sky 148
Virgin Media 149
Freesat 137
Freely 38

No subscription is required on any of them. Virgin Media and Freesat numbers can shift depending on your box and region, so trust your on-screen guide over this table if the two disagree.

Streaming online

Legend streams live and free through the WatchFreeUK app, available on Freeview Play, Freesat and YouView, and as a download on iOS, Android, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung and LG smart TVs. No account or sign-up is required, which is more than can be said for most of its rivals. The catch-up section carries a selection of recently broadcast programmes, but licensing means not everything that airs stays available, and windows vary by title.

Legend Xtra and sister channels

Legend Xtra launched on 1 July 2022 as HorrorXtra and took its current name in a November 2023 refresh. Same broad mix of action, sci-fi and horror, free on Freeview channel 69, Sky 317, Virgin Media 171, Freesat 138 and Freely 51, with a +1 timeshift on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.

Both channels belong to the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, a joint venture between Paramount Networks UK & Australia and AMC Networks International UK. True Crime and True Crime Xtra come from the same stable and sit alongside them in the WatchFreeUK app.

Verdict

Legend is not chasing prestige and would look daft if it tried. What it gives instead is proper scheduled hours to material other free channels treat as filler. Horror Channel-era chillers hold the fringes of the schedule, but most nights now belong to the action cinema Van Damme and his contemporaries were making through the 1990s.

Wednesday keeps to that identity throughout: American genre reruns filling the day, then Uncommon Valor anchoring the evening as tonight’s action set piece, with the courtroom drama Rules of Engagement taking the late slot at 11:10pm.
