Legend TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On Legend Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 4 programmes · 6pm–1am

Legend is what the old Horror Channel turned into after its 2022 rebrand: still free to air, still fond of a monster, but now handing most of its evenings to sci-fi, fantasy and action cinema. Saturday’s daytime is given over to five episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man from 7am, then two instalments of the Kenny Rogers western The Gambler 3: The Legend Continues before Blood River fills the mid-afternoon. The evening runs a Twilight Zone double bill either side of 8pm before the 9pm film headlines the night. Full breakdown below.

What’s on Legend today

Overnight belongs to two more recent action pictures: Dwayne Johnson plays a paroled convict working through a revenge list in 2010’s Faster at 1:30am, then Nicolas Cage headlines the heist-gone-wrong comedy thriller The Trust at 3:20am. Legend goes off air at 5am for a half-hour break, then runs teleshopping from 5:30am until programmes resume at 7am.

The Six Million Dollar Man then holds the whole morning, five editions of the 1970s series back to back from 7am to midday. Steve Austin works through a run of season five cases: rescuing schoolchildren stranded on a mountain tramway as a tornado closes in, going undercover with a roller-derby team, then a two-parter over a lunar mining operation that has knocked the moon off its orbit, before ending the run posing as bait to expose a group that has infiltrated OSI security.

Kenny Rogers returns as gambler-turned-lawman Brady Hawkes for a two-part western at midday, The Gambler 3: The Legend Continues, helping the Sioux take on the government over withheld supplies. Blood River picks up the western theme at 3:50pm, a 1991 revenge drama in which a young cowboy who has just killed his parents’ murderer is taken in by a stranger who may not have his best interests at heart, running through to The War Lord and the start of the evening schedule at 5:40pm.

Legend tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the Legend primetime line-up for tonight, Saturday 15 August 2026.

The War Lord — Legend, 5:40pm

Franklin J. Schaffner’s 1965 medieval drama opens the evening. Charlton Heston plays an 11th-century knight who falls for another man’s wife, and her husband responds by turning the knight’s own brother against him, tipping the whole province into civil war.

The Twilight Zone — Legend, 8pm

The nightly double bill runs two black-and-white episodes from Rod Serling’s original series back to back. In the 8pm half hour, an astronaut lands among a race of miniature people and decides the moment calls for a god rather than a rescue party.

The Twilight Zone — Legend, 8:30pm

The second half hour turns domestic and cruel. A self-appointed moral crusader spends his days making life difficult for neighbours he has privately judged and found guilty.

Tears of the Sun — Legend, 9pm

Antoine Fuqua’s 2003 war drama is Legend’s headline film tonight. Bruce Willis plays a Navy SEAL lieutenant sent into a collapsing Nigeria to extract an American doctor, and the mission grows far larger once she refuses to leave the refugees in her care behind. Monica Bellucci plays the doctor whose insistence on staying reshapes the whole operation.

The 13th Warrior — Legend, 11:30pm

John McTiernan’s 1999 adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel Eaters of the Dead closes the night. Antonio Banderas plays an exiled Arab nobleman who falls in with a band of Norse warriors and ends up fighting something considerably stranger than the raiders he expected.

What kind of shows are on Legend

Cult horror and its Horror Channel roots

Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.

Sci-fi, fantasy and action films

Most evenings belong to genre cinema of a specific vintage: Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, and further back, the fantasy adventures Ray Harryhausen animated. Film4 has the recent theatrical releases covered. Legend is working two or three decades earlier, and there is less competition for that ground than you would think.

Classic genre television

Very few channels still hand hours to vintage American genre TV. Legend does. The Twilight Zone runs as a nightly double bill, and Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Six Million Dollar Man fill most weekday daytimes.

How to watch Legend

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find Legend across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 41
Sky 148
Virgin Media 149
Freesat 137
Freely 38

No subscription is required on any of them. Virgin Media and Freesat numbers can shift depending on your box and region, so trust your on-screen guide over this table if the two disagree.

Streaming online

Legend streams live and free through the WatchFreeUK app, available on Freeview Play, Freesat and YouView, and as a download on iOS, Android, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung and LG smart TVs. No account or sign-up is required, which is more than can be said for most of its rivals. The catch-up section carries a selection of recently broadcast programmes, but licensing means not everything that airs stays available, and windows vary by title.

Legend Xtra and sister channels

Legend Xtra launched on 1 July 2022 as HorrorXtra and took its current name in a November 2023 refresh. Same broad mix of action, sci-fi and horror, free on Freeview channel 69, Sky 317, Virgin Media 171, Freesat 138 and Freely 51, with a +1 timeshift on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.

Both channels belong to the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, a joint venture between Paramount Networks UK & Australia and AMC Networks International UK. True Crime and True Crime Xtra come from the same stable and sit alongside them in the WatchFreeUK app.

Verdict

Legend is not chasing prestige and would look daft if it tried. What it gives instead is proper scheduled hours to material other free channels treat as filler. Horror Channel-era chillers hold the fringes of the schedule, but most nights now belong to the action cinema Van Damme and his contemporaries were making through the 1990s.

Saturday follows the same pattern with an older decade of it: The Six Million Dollar Man filling the morning, a Kenny Rogers western at midday, then a run of films either side of the Twilight Zone double bill through the evening. Nobody is pretending this is a discovery channel. It knows exactly what it is.
