EntertainmentLegend is what the old Horror Channel turned into after its 2022 rebrand: still free to air, still fond of a monster, but now handing most of its evenings to sci-fi, fantasy and action cinema. Tuesday’s overnight run pairs Raquel Welch’s revenge western Hannie Caulder with Boris Karloff’s The Sorcerers, then the schedule threads Walker, Texas Ranger, The Six Million Dollar Man and Babylon 5 in and out of the daytime on the way to primetime. Woody Harrelson’s heist thriller Money Train headlines the evening at 9pm. Full breakdown below.

What’s on Legend today
Overnight opens at 1:35am with Hannie Caulder, the 1971 revenge western built around Raquel Welch as a woman who enlists a bounty hunter to hunt down the men who killed her husband and burned out her home. The Sorcerers follows at 3:15am, Michael Reeves’ 1967 chiller with Boris Karloff as an ageing scientist who hypnotises a younger man to relive his own youth, with predictably nasty results. Legend goes off air just before 5am and stays dark until 5:30am, then runs teleshopping until programmes proper resume at 8am with Walker, Texas Ranger (series three, episode twelve), Cordell Walker chasing down a bingo-scam operation.
The morning belongs to the channel’s regular daytime rotation: The Six Million Dollar Man at 9am (series five, episode eleven) sends Steve Austin after a vanished top-secret aircraft, then Babylon 5 at 10am (series three, episode six) has Bester return to the station chasing a telepathy-boosting drug while G’Kar starts to piece together what has happened to Londo. Age Of The Dragons fills 11am, a 2011 B-movie with Danny Glover that swaps Moby Dick’s whale for a dragon and keeps most of the rest of the plot intact.
The afternoon turns to two western features either side of the regular Legend Lowdown bulletin. Gunsmoke 3: To The Last Man airs at 1pm, a 1992 James Arness outing that has the retired marshal Matt Dillon chasing a gang of rustlers into the middle of somebody else’s blood feud. Law of the Lawless follows at 3pm, a leaner 1964 western with Dale Robertson as a judge intimidated ahead of a trial involving a local strongman’s son. Star Trek: The Original Series takes 5pm, then The Six Million Dollar Man repeats at 6pm (series five, episode twelve) to open the run into primetime.
Legend tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the Legend primetime line-up for tonight, Tuesday 18 August 2026.
The Six Million Dollar Man — Legend, 6pm
Series five, episode twelve, has Steve Austin turn wing-walker to earn the trust of a defecting Soviet pilot, which is exactly the kind of stunt-heavy premise the show built its reputation on.
Babylon 5 — Legend, 7pm
Series three’s seventh episode splits its attention two ways: Marcus and Franklin chase a parasite loose in Downbelow while, out beyond Centauri space, Shadow vessels start massing in numbers nobody on the station likes the look of.
Walker, Texas Ranger — Legend, 8pm
What looks like a routine case turns into something bigger for Walker and Trivette in episode thirteen, once they clock two movie stuntmen quietly planning to rob a train for real.
Money Train — Legend, 9pm
Legend’s biggest booking of the night is Money Train (1995), the transit-cop thriller that reunited Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson three years after White Men Can’t Jump and paired them with a young Jennifer Lopez as the detective who complicates their partnership. Snipes and Harrelson play foster brothers on the New York subway squad; one of them owes money to loan sharks he can’t pay off, so the pair set their sights on the token booth vault that holds a day’s takings from the entire network. Chris Cooper turns up as the humourless transit chief trying to stop them, while a subway arsonist running loose in the background gives the film’s back half its urgency. It’s broad, noisy and very 1990s, and Legend gives it the full two hours twenty rather than cutting it down.
The Hard Way — Legend, 11:20pm
The late film is The Hard Way (1991), John Badham’s mismatched-buddy comedy that pairs Michael J. Fox’s preening movie star with James Woods’ exhausted New York detective, the latter saddled with showing the former how to play a cop convincingly on screen. Annabella Sciorra and a young Christina Ricci fill out the cast, and Stephen Lang provides the actual killer the two men eventually have to catch once the ride-along stops being a joke. It’s a different film to the many other titles sharing the name, so worth checking the listing rather than assuming.
What kind of shows are on Legend
Cult horror and its Horror Channel roots
Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.
Sci-fi, fantasy and action films
Most evenings belong to genre cinema of a specific vintage: Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, and further back, the fantasy adventures Ray Harryhausen animated. Film4 has the recent theatrical releases covered. Legend is working two or three decades earlier, and there is less competition for that ground than you would think.
Classic genre television
Very few channels still hand hours to vintage American genre TV. Legend does. The Twilight Zone runs as a nightly double bill, and Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Six Million Dollar Man fill most weekday daytimes.

Legend Xtra launched on 1 July 2022 as HorrorXtra and took its current name in a November 2023 refresh. Same broad mix of action, sci-fi and horror, free on Freeview channel 69, Sky 317, Virgin Media 171, Freesat 138 and Freely 51, with a +1 timeshift on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.
Both channels belong to the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, a joint venture between Paramount Networks UK & Australia and AMC Networks International UK. True Crime and True Crime Xtra come from the same stable and sit alongside them in the WatchFreeUK app.

Verdict
Legend is not chasing prestige and would look daft if it tried. What it gives instead is proper scheduled hours to material other free channels treat as filler. Horror Channel-era chillers hold the fringes of the schedule, but most nights now belong to the action cinema Van Damme and his contemporaries were making through the 1990s.
Tuesday follows the same formula: a pair of vintage genre features overnight, two westerns bookending the afternoon Legend Lowdown bulletin, then Walker, Texas Ranger and Babylon 5 carrying the schedule into a proper 1990s heist picture and a mismatched-buddy comedy by way of a nightcap. Nobody is pretending this is a discovery channel. It knows exactly what it is.
