TV Guide UK Tonight: Sun 12 Jul 2026 – Wimbledon Men’s Final, I Jack Wright & The Dark

Daily TV Guide

Sunday 12 July 2026. It’s the last day of the Championships, and the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final takes over BBC One at 4pm, with build-up from 11am on BBC Two. Two new dramas also launch tonight: The Dark begins on ITV1 at 9pm, and I, Jack Wright follows on BBC One at 9:15pm. There’s no EastEnders this evening — the soap only runs Monday to Thursday, so BBC One’s Sunday schedule goes to drama and tennis instead. Channel 4 brings back The Piano at 9pm, and BBC Two profiles Britain’s antiques at Clissold Park before closing the night with Oppenheimer.

Quick Picks: Tonight’s Best

  • Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final BBC One, 4pm. The Championships reach their conclusion on Centre Court.
  • The Dark ITV1, 9pm. New Scottish serial-killer thriller starring Laura Donnelly.
  • I, Jack Wright BBC One, 9:15pm. New family drama from Chris Lang, led by Trevor Eve.
  • The Piano Channel 4, 9pm. Claudia Winkleman’s amateur pianists return.
  • Antiques Roadshow BBC Two, 8pm. Fiona Bruce in Stoke Newington.
  • No EastEnders tonight — it’s a Monday-to-Thursday soap, so BBC One’s evening belongs to drama.

Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final – BBC One, 4pm ⭐

Two weeks of tennis come down to this. Day 13 is the last day of the Championships, and after a fortnight of shocks, comebacks and a middle Sunday that’s now a fixture rather than a novelty, the men’s singles final gets under way on Centre Court at 4pm. BBC Two opens the day’s coverage from 11am with build-up and analysis, and BBC One takes over as the match itself starts, with pundits weighing the final before a ball is struck and picking over it long after the trophy’s lifted. Whatever the scoreline, a Wimbledon final rarely disappoints as television — it’s the closest thing tennis has to genuine theatre. Free on BBC Two, BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Sport doesn’t stop once the tennis wraps up. The Women’s Test between England and India runs through the day on Sky Sports Cricket, with highlights on BBC Four at 7pm, and the Tour de France has stage coverage on TNT Sports 1 from midday, with highlights on Channel 5 at 7pm. The men’s Scottish Open reaches its final round on Sky Sports from 3pm.

Early Evening

Fern Britton: Inside the Vet’s – ITV1, 11:30am

Fern Britton is back at Grove Vets, the family-run Bristol practice she’s been following through the highs and lows of daily veterinary work. Expect anxious owners, tricky diagnoses, and a team that clearly loves the job. It’s an easy watch for a Sunday morning, sitting somewhere between documentary and comfort television. ITVX.

On BBC Two, Countryfile heads to the Essex coast at 7pm, where Anita Rani meets the oyster farmers working the estuary and finds out what it takes to keep a centuries-old industry going. Channel 4’s Cruising to the Ends of the Earth wraps up its run at the same time, following the ship on the final leg of its journey from Alaska to Japan.

Antiques Roadshow – BBC Two, 8pm

Fiona Bruce and the specialists set up in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington, for another afternoon of hopeful owners and family heirlooms. Among tonight’s finds is a collection of Formula 1 memorabilia with a Lewis Hamilton connection — the sort of item that tends to have the valuers reaching for their reference books. As ever, it’s less about the price tags than the stories behind what people bring in. BBC iPlayer.

Also at 8pm, Channel 5’s The TV Rich List 2026 counts down Britain’s 30 wealthiest television stars, and BBC Four broadcasts the Summer Night Concert from Vienna, with the Vienna Philharmonic performing in the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace and bass-baritone Bryn Terfel among the night’s guests.

Prime Time

The Dark – ITV1, 9pm

New series. Laura Donnelly plays Detective Monica Kennedy, called out to the Scottish wilderness to investigate a body that’s been left deliberately, unsettlingly staged. It’s the kind of opening that tells you exactly what sort of series this is going to be — moody, slow-building, and more interested in atmosphere than jump scares. Mark Rowley plays her colleague DC Connor Crawford, and the Highlands setting does a lot of the heavy lifting on tone alone. Six episodes in total. ITVX.

I, Jack Wright – BBC One, 9:15pm & 10:30pm

New series. Trevor Eve plays Jack Wright, a self-made multi-millionaire whose sudden death sends his family into a scramble over what’s left behind. Daniel Rigby and John Simm play his sons, and it doesn’t take long for grief to curdle into suspicion once the will is read. Chris Lang, who’s built a career out of slow-burn family thrillers, keeps the tone somewhere between drama and puzzle box — you’re never quite sure who’s lying and who just seems like they are. Two episodes air back to back tonight, with the full series available on BBC iPlayer.

The Piano – Channel 4, 9pm

Claudia Winkleman returns to the railway stations for another series of amateur pianists performing for unsuspecting commuters. The judging panel’s had a refresh this time out, with Mika joining the line-up alongside familiar faces, and young pianist Tiffany Poon among the names to watch. It remains one of the gentler ideas on television — no eliminations, no sob-story editing, just people playing because they love it. Channel 4 streaming.

Elsewhere at 9pm, BBC Two’s The Tech Billionaire Takeover has Matt Shea examining crypto and tech-world figures pushing into politics, and TLC’s Unacceptable puts Ed Gamble, Richard Ayoade and Joanne McNally around a table to argue over what does and doesn’t cross the line.

Late Night

Oppenheimer – BBC Two, 10pm

Christopher Nolan’s 2023 biopic gets a Sunday-night outing, with Cillian Murphy’s performance as J Robert Oppenheimer anchoring three hours that move between courtroom drama, wartime urgency and quiet moral horror. It’s a big ask for a school-night slot, granted, but Nolan’s IMAX-shot sequences hold up just as well on a smaller screen. Rated 15. BBC iPlayer.
