E4 TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On E4 Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 4 programmes · 6pm–1am

E4 is Channel 4’s younger-skewing entertainment channel: American sitcom reruns through the day, reality formats after dark, and the Hollyoaks first-look Monday to Wednesday at 7pm. There’s no Hollyoaks on Saturday 29 August 2026 — the first-look run doesn’t reach the weekend at all — so the evening belongs to two films instead. Home Alone runs from 4:35pm to 6:45pm, holding most of the 6pm hour, before The Devil Wears Prada takes over through to 9pm. Celebrity Gogglebox, a separate programme with its own celebrity line-up, opens the 9pm hour, and two episodes of the regular Gogglebox close out the night at 10pm and 11:05pm. Daytime runs ten Simpsons episodes across two blocks from two different eras: a series 6 run from 8:55am to 11:20am, then a series 11 run from 2pm to 4:35pm.

What’s on E4 today

Overnight opens with a Gogglebox repeat at 1:50am (series 22), then Ladies of London: The New Reign at 2:50am — its fifth episode, despite a “Brand new series” label the feed has mistakenly attached to it — and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA at 3:40am. The Goldbergs and two episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine carry the graveyard shift through to 6am.

There’s no Hollyoaks anywhere on E4 today — the first-look run is Monday to Wednesday and doesn’t reach Saturday in any slot. Breakfast opens with Lego Masters Australia at 6am, then two episodes of Below Deck Down Under at 7:05am and 8am (both also carry a misapplied “Brand new series” flag; neither is actually a launch).

Five episodes of The Simpsons, all from series 6, run from 8:55am to 11:20am, then Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA returns for a second airing. Antz takes the early-afternoon slot at 12:25pm, and a second run of five Simpsons episodes — series 11 this time, three decades on from the morning’s series 6 run — carries the schedule from 2pm to 4:35pm and into the start of the evening.

E4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the E4 primetime line-up for tonight, Saturday 29 August 2026. There’s no Hollyoaks today — the first-look run doesn’t reach Saturday — so the evening is built around two films and the Gogglebox strand instead.

Home Alone — E4, 4:35pm

Home Alone gets going well before the traditional primetime start and quietly eats most of the 6pm hour, running two hours ten minutes and finishing just as The Devil Wears Prada begins.

The Devil Wears Prada — E4, 6:45pm

The Devil Wears Prada picks up where Home Alone leaves off, running through to 9pm and covering the whole of the traditional 7pm slot.

Celebrity Gogglebox — E4, 9pm

Celebrity Gogglebox opens the 9pm hour with its own celebrity line-up, distinct from the household regulars who take over an hour later. This is series 8, episode 1.

Gogglebox — E4, 10pm

The ordinary sofa-based format returns at 10pm for series 23, episode 8, the first of two instalments back to back.

Gogglebox — E4, 11:05pm

Series 23 continues straight into episode 9, closing out E4’s evening just after 11pm.

Popular shows on E4

Reality

Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition and the one that reorders the whole schedule when a series is on. Three or four episodes a week, strangers paired off by “experts”, married at first meeting, then sat at a dinner party until somebody says the unforgivable thing. The UK version plays much quieter. Its couples absorb the pressure rather than detonate at the table, which is more realistic and considerably less watchable.

Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016 and has never changed shape: two relationship coaches, currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, a handful of celebrity clients, and dates with members of the public.

Soap

Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995 and in E4’s first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It takes on the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, while keeping the pace quick and the cast young.

US comedy

The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor daytime, and all three sit on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the exception to everything. E4 holds so much of it that a single day can jump across two decades of the show without anyone at the channel appearing to mind.

How to watch E4

Channel numbers

Where to find E4 by platform:

Platform Channel Number
Freeview 13
Sky (Q, Stream, Glass) 135
Virgin Media / Freesat Check your on-screen guide

E4 is free-to-air everywhere. A Freeview aerial carries it, and so does every Sky package as standard.

Streaming

E4 streams live and on demand for free through Channel 4’s app and channel4.com, covering smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and most streaming sticks. Registration is free and asks for no payment details. Adverts play regardless. The full E4 library is there as well, including complete runs of Married at First Sight Australia and MAFS UK, and Hollyoaks as catch-up after transmission.

E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family

E4 +1 on Freeview 30 is a straight one-hour timeshift, so 7pm here is 8pm there.

E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot 4Music vacated, and sits on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.

Both sit in the wider Channel 4 family alongside the main channel, More4 for factual and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money and no government subsidy, a distinction worth remembering the next time somebody complains about the adverts.

Frequently asked questions

What’s on E4 tonight?

E4 has two films tonight and no Hollyoaks, since the first-look run only goes Monday to Wednesday and doesn’t reach Saturday. Home Alone fills 4:35pm to 6:45pm, taking most of the 6pm hour, and The Devil Wears Prada follows straight after through to 9pm. Celebrity Gogglebox opens the 9pm hour with its own line-up, then two episodes of the regular Gogglebox — series 23, episodes 8 and 9, shown in order — close the night at 10pm and 11:05pm. Times are in the schedule table above.

Does E4 have adverts?

Yes. It is a commercial channel, so ad breaks run on linear TV and on the streaming free tier alike. No licence fee, no subscription. Record it on a PVR and you can skip them as usual.

When did E4 launch?

E4 launched on 18 January 2001 as a companion to Channel 4, aimed at younger viewers from day one. It began as a subscription service, later went free-to-air, and reached Freeview in May 2005.

Verdict

Saturday is built around two films rather than the usual first-look Hollyoaks, which doesn’t air at the weekend at all. Home Alone opens the evening at 4:35pm and holds most of the 6pm hour before The Devil Wears Prada takes over at 6:45pm through to 9pm. Celebrity Gogglebox, a separate programme with its own line-up, opens the 9pm hour, and two episodes of the regular Gogglebox — series 23, episodes 8 and 9, shown in order — close out the night at 10pm and 11:05pm.

Daytime runs on a smaller set of repeated strands than the evening: a Gogglebox repeat and Ladies of London: The New Reign carry the small hours, The Goldbergs and Brooklyn Nine-Nine lead into a breakfast of Lego Masters Australia and Below Deck Down Under, and The Simpsons anchors both mid-morning and mid-afternoon with two runs from different eras — series 6 close to 9am, series 11 close to 3pm — either side of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA and Antz.

TV Radar Team is the byline on TV Radar's automatically generated TV guides — covering BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and beyond. Each evening's schedule is built from the published listings (titles, start times, run lengths and episode numbers) and checked against our listings data before publication, so you can decide in two minutes what to record and what to skip. These guides are generated automatically rather than written by hand; a human editor spot-checks them, but not every page is read before it goes live. Based in London, updated every day.
