ITV1 is the UK’s biggest commercial channel: Freeview 3, channel 103 on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat, free on ITVX if you can stomach the ad breaks. Saturday 22 August 2026 belongs to The Voice UK, which launches its new series at 7pm with Kelly Rowland arriving on a coaching panel that still seats Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and the McFly pair, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher. What’s on ITV1 today — the daytime schedule

Saturday shapes the day around racing and shopping filler rather than the usual weekday run of Good Morning Britain and This Morning — neither is on today. Overnight is a quiet stretch: shopping strand Shop on TV opens the small hours at 1:30am, then Force of Nature takes the 3am slot (series 1, episode 4), Long Lost Family follows at 3:50am (series 15, episode 5), and wind-down strand Unwind with ITV closes out the graveyard shift at 4:45am (series 5, episode 297).

James Martin’s American Adventure opens the daytime schedule proper at 6am (series 1, episode 11), followed by the 1979 Bond film Moonraker at 6:55am, which runs right through to the late-morning news. After the 9:25am bulletin, ITV Racing: The Opening Show previews the afternoon’s card at 9:30am, then James Martin’s Saturday Morning fills the rest of the late morning from 10:30am.

Following the 1pm ITV News, racing takes over the afternoon: ITV Racing: Live from York runs for just over three hours from 1:15pm, and it is the closing day of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival, not the opening day as it’s sometimes billed — the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap itself, the meeting’s marquee race and one of the biggest flat handicaps in the calendar, is run mid-afternoon. The Chase returns at 4:30pm (series 17, episode 56) once racing wraps, ahead of ITV Evening News at 5:30pm and the regional ITV News London update at 5:45pm. There are no soap episodes anywhere in today’s schedule — Emmerdale and Coronation Street are both Monday-to-Friday shows and were last on air Friday night.

ITV1 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the ITV1 primetime line-up for tonight, Saturday 22 August 2026 — and, unlike the weeknight schedule, there isn’t a soap in sight. Emmerdale and Coronation Street both run Monday to Friday, so Saturday’s line-up is built entirely around a returning talent show, two quizzes and a Bond film.

Deal or No Deal: Celebrity Special — ITV1, 6pm

Stephen Mulhern opens the evening with Deal or No Deal: Celebrity Special, this time putting comedian Katherine Ryan through the 22-box ritual for charity, backed by friends and family in the wings.

The Voice UK — ITV1, 7pm

The night’s biggest event: The Voice UK launches a new series, with Emma Willis presenting the blind auditions as usual. Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am are back in the chairs, as are McFly’s Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, but there’s a new face turning this year — Kelly Rowland takes the seat vacated after last series, introduced with a specially filmed blind-audition sequence of her own before she gets to work judging tonight’s hopefuls.

The 1% Club — ITV1, 8:15pm

Lee Mack’s brain-teaser quiz takes the 8:15pm slot, whittling a studio audience down through questions ranked by the percentage of people who can actually answer them.

The evening bulletin and weather split The 1% Club from tonight’s film, running until 9:35pm.

Spectre — ITV1, 9:35pm

Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as James Bond closes primetime. Christoph Waltz plays Franz Oberhauser, head of the shadowy organisation SPECTRE, in a chase across four continents that runs on well past midnight.

Soaps

Coronation Street is the world’s longest-running soap opera, first broadcast in December 1960 and set in fictional Weatherfield in Greater Manchester. Sixty-five years on it’s still one of ITV’s most-watched programmes. The 2026 move to nightly half-hour episodes cut the wandering subplots and the show is better for it. Emmerdale, set in a Yorkshire Dales village, has run since 1972 and leans on long slow-burn storylines, with the odd plane crash or storm when the ratings need a jolt.

Quizzes and game shows

The Chase is the strongest quiz ITV1 has. Bradley Walsh hosts it, and the six Chasers each have their own following: Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis. Mine’s Hegerty, for the record. The format has also spawned foreign versions and a celebrity edition.

Tipping Point, ITV1’s other daily quiz, is the simpler of the pair: get a question right, drop a counter into the machine, hope it shoves some money off the shelf. Ben Shephard fronts it.

Entertainment

Britain’s Got Talent returns each spring for its auditions, with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli on the panel. The live shows pull some of the biggest Saturday-night audiences on linear TV.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has aired every autumn since 2002. The premise is thin: recognisable faces stuck in a remote camp with nothing to do but bicker and eat insects. It still pulls millions, which says something, though I’m not sure what.

ITV1 is free-to-air on all of these. The regional version you get is set by the postcode on your account or box setup.

ITV1 streams live and free on ITVX at itv.com/watch, and through the ITVX app on smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, the Sky boxes, Virgin Media TV360 and most streaming sticks. You need a free ITVX account, just an email and password, no card details.

Most programmes stay on demand for 30 days after broadcast. Emmerdale and Coronation Street go up at 7am on broadcast day, hours before they air on TV.

To watch the live stream you need a TV Licence, the same as watching any live channel online in the UK. On-demand catch-up doesn’t. ITVX is funded by advertising like the channel itself; an optional ITVX Premium subscription strips the ads from on-demand viewing.

ITV1 regions, STV and UTV

ITV1 isn’t one channel but a network of regional licence holders sharing the national schedule and producing their own local news. The bulletins around the ITV Evening News come from whichever licence holder covers your area: ITV London, Granada, ITV Central, Meridian, Yorkshire, Anglia, Border, Tyne Tees, Wales and West Country.

Scotland is the exception. In the centre and north, STV (Scottish Television) holds the channel-3 licence as an independent broadcaster. It runs most of the ITV1 schedule, including Coronation Street, Emmerdale, The Chase and Britain’s Got Talent. But it makes its own news and some of its own drama and factual output, and runs a separate streaming service, STV Player. STV isn’t owned by ITV.

In Northern Ireland the channel-3 licence belongs to UTV (Ulster Television), which carries the network schedule alongside its own local news. UTV is owned by ITV plc. Both STV and UTV sit on channel 3 on Freeview in their regions.
