EntertainmentLegend is what the old Horror Channel turned into after its 2022 rebrand: still free to air, still fond of a monster, but now handing most of its evenings to sci-fi, fantasy and action cinema. Tonight, Thursday 6 August 2026, the day’s earlier runs of The Six Million Dollar Man, Babylon 5 and Walker, Texas Ranger repeat through early evening before the 9pm film, Copycat (1995), Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter’s serial-killer thriller, with Jason Statham’s The Bank Job (2008) closing the night at 11:30pm. Full schedule below.

What’s on Legend today
The overnight hours run two older horror titles back to back. Red Sonja, at 1:40am, is the 1985 fantasy adventure with Brigitte Nielsen as a sword-wielding warrior avenging her family and stopping a queen bent on seizing a magic talisman. The Satanic Rites of Dracula, at 3:30am, follows with Christopher Lee’s Count rising from the grave to unleash a plague on the world, a descendant of Van Helsing on his trail. Legend goes off air just after 5am and fills the gap with two and a half hours of teleshopping from 5:30am.
Daytime settles into Legend’s usual rhythm of American genre television. Walker, Texas Ranger opens proceedings at 8am with Chuck Norris wounded after confronting ranchers threatening federally protected horses, followed by The Six Million Dollar Man at 9am and Babylon 5’s second season at 10am, in which the Centauri war machine rolls on toward the Narn homeworld. Triassic Hunt, at 11am, is a 2020 creature feature: two genetically recreated dinosaurs get loose and a group of hired guns are sent to stop them. After the midday Legend Lowdown update, The Buccaneer takes the 1pm slot, Charlton Heston’s 1958 remake of the swashbuckler in which a general defending New Orleans strikes an uneasy alliance with a notorious pirate to repel the British. When Worlds Collide, at 3:20pm, is 1951 apocalyptic sci-fi: a new planet is hurtling towards a doomed Earth and a group of scientists race to build a rocket out. Star Trek: The Original Series airs at 5pm before the evening’s repeat run of The Six Million Dollar Man, Babylon 5 and Walker, Texas Ranger begins again at 6pm.
Legend tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the Legend primetime line-up for tonight, Thursday 6 August 2026.
The Six Million Dollar Man — Legend, 6pm
Steve Austin’s rescue mission gets complicated at 6pm: the mission director’s own daughter is taken hostage by pirates, and it’s down to the bionic man to get her back before the assignment even starts.
Babylon 5 — Legend, 7pm
The station’s political intrigue tightens at 7pm. Delenn is put through a gruelling test of allegiance while G’Kar tries to rally the scattered Narn against the advancing Centauri fleet.
Walker, Texas Ranger — Legend, 8pm
Chuck Norris is back on patrol at 8pm, and this time it costs him. Walker moves to save a baby caught up in danger, but ends up in a coma for his trouble.
Copycat — Legend, 9pm
Sigourney Weaver plays an agoraphobic criminal psychologist drawn out of her flat to help Holly Hunter’s detective hunt a killer who is recreating the crimes of history’s most notorious murderers. It’s a tighter, nastier thriller than its mid-90s billing suggests, and Weaver’s performance carries most of the tension.
The Bank Job — Legend, 11:30pm
Jason Statham leads a crew who think they’re pulling off a straightforward London bank heist, until the safe deposit boxes they crack open turn out to hold files the security services would rather stayed buried. The film closes out Legend’s night on its sturdiest note of the two features.
What kind of shows are on Legend
Cult horror and its Horror Channel roots
Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.
Sci-fi, fantasy and action films
Most evenings belong to genre cinema of a specific vintage: Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, and further back, the fantasy adventures Ray Harryhausen animated. Film4 has the recent theatrical releases covered. Legend is working two or three decades earlier, and there is less competition for that ground than you would think.
Classic genre television
Very few channels still hand hours to vintage American genre TV. Legend does. The Twilight Zone runs as a nightly double bill, and Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Six Million Dollar Man fill most weekday daytimes.

Legend streams live and free through the WatchFreeUK app, available on Freeview Play, Freesat and YouView, and as a download on iOS, Android, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung and LG smart TVs. No account or sign-up is required, which is more than can be said for most of its rivals. The catch-up section carries a selection of recently broadcast programmes, but licensing means not everything that airs stays available, and windows vary by title.
Legend Xtra and sister channels
Legend Xtra launched on 1 July 2022 as HorrorXtra and took its current name in a November 2023 refresh. Same broad mix of action, sci-fi and horror, free on Freeview channel 69, Sky 317, Virgin Media 171, Freesat 138 and Freely 51, with a +1 timeshift on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.
Both channels belong to the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, a joint venture between Paramount Networks UK & Australia and AMC Networks International UK. True Crime and True Crime Xtra come from the same stable and sit alongside them in the WatchFreeUK app.

Verdict
Legend is not chasing prestige and would look daft if it tried. What it does instead is give proper scheduled hours to material other free channels treat as gap-filler: cult horror, vintage American sci-fi, and the unfashionable action cinema Van Damme and his contemporaries spent the 1990s making.
Thursday’s daytime is a fairly typical mix for the channel: Triassic Hunt’s dinosaur runaround and Charlton Heston’s The Buccaneer either side of the midday Legend Lowdown update, with When Worlds Collide’s planet-on-collision-course plot filling the mid-afternoon slot. The evening belongs to the two films. Copycat at 9pm is a properly tense procedural that gives Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter room to work, tracking a killer copying real-life murderers’ methods. The Bank Job at 11:30pm is the punchier close, Jason Statham leading a heist that turns out to be about a great deal more than the cash in the vault.
