EntertainmentMore4 is Channel 4’s factual and lifestyle channel: property shows, food formats and the fly-on-the-wall documentaries that would crowd out the main channel’s schedule. It launched on 10 October 2005 and has been free to air since 6 May 2008, when it dropped the subscription requirement it had briefly carried on satellite. Thursday’s full listings are below, with channel numbers further down the page.

What’s on More4 today
Thursday daytime on More4 sticks to the channel’s usual rerun pattern. Four in a Bed runs five editions from 10am to 12:40pm, Come Dine with Me takes over for five more between 12:40pm and 3:20pm, and Four in a Bed returns for a further five episodes from 3:20pm to 5:50pm.
Before any of that, the small hours carry 999: On the Front Line and two episodes of 24 Hours in Police Custody, followed by an early A Place in the Sun repeat and a long teleshopping block that fills the gap until Heir Hunters restarts the daytime schedule just before 9am.
More4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the More4 primetime line-up for tonight, Thursday 6 August 2026.
Car S.O.S — More4, 5:50pm & 6:50pm
Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend work through two separate rebuilds back to back. First a Mk2 Ford Escort RS2000 belonging to a Dorset carpenter who gave up work to support his son after a serious accident, then a Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo restored for a Stockport man left tetraplegic in a crash.
Grand Designs — More4, 7:55pm
Architect David Parsons attempts a black-clad, largely windowless house tucked into Essex woodland. The design choices that make it striking from outside are the same ones that risk making it feel like a bunker to actually live in.
The Reclaimers: Made in Suffolk — More4, 9pm
Episode four of five tonight, flagged new by the schedule. Andy and Hayley spend the day at Norwich Castle, revisiting what they describe as one of their biggest salvage jobs, while Jonah reclaims material from Andy’s old school cloakroom for a separate project.
24 Hours in A&E — More4, 10pm & 11:05pm
Two fresh cases from St George’s. A 60-year-old is brought in after a 10-foot fall from a ladder and a 13-year-old loses feeling in her feet and hands following a trampoline fall, then the second episode brings two trauma patients arriving by helicopter on the hospital’s helipad and a 29-year-old treated after crashing his motorcycle into a bollard.
What kind of shows are on More4
Fly-on-the-wall documentary
This is the strand More4 is known for. 24 Hours in A&E and 999: On the Front Line both use the same method: fixed cameras, real emergencies, no reconstructions. Neither has changed that formula in over a decade of running.
Property and food formats
A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me anchor the daytime and early-evening schedule. One is about the fantasy of starting again somewhere warmer; the other is about strangers cooking for each other and being far too honest about the results. Four in a Bed does the same job for the B&B trade. Between them they account for most of what More4 broadcasts before 6pm.
Imported drama and classic comedy
More4 also fills gaps with imported crime drama, a fair amount of Nordic noir, and repeats from Channel 4’s own sitcom back-catalogue. It’s schedule filler between the factual strands rather than anything the channel commissions for itself.
How to watch More4
Channel numbers
Here’s where to find More4 across the main UK television platforms:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 18 |
| Sky (England, Wales, NI) | 136 |
| Sky (Scotland) | 137 |
| Virgin Media | 147 |
| Virgin Media +1 | 347 |
| Freesat | 124 |
More4 is free on all of the above, with no subscription required.
Streaming online
More4 streams live and free at channel4.com/now/m4 and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and PlayStation. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Recent episodes of most More4 shows are also available to watch on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform shortly after broadcast.
More4 +1 and sister channels
More4 +1 runs the schedule an hour behind on Virgin Media, channel 347, but was withdrawn from Freeview back in June 2022. If you miss the start of something on Freeview, the Channel 4 on-demand service is the more reliable way to catch up.
More4 sits alongside Channel 4’s other free channels: the main Channel 4 service, E4 (entertainment and US imports), Film4 (movies) and 4seven (catch-up repeats).
Frequently asked questions
What’s on More4 tonight?
Tonight, Thursday 6 August 2026, More4 runs two Car S.O.S restorations at 5:50pm and 6:50pm, Grand Designs at 7:55pm, then The Reclaimers: Made in Suffolk brings a new episode at 9pm, before 24 Hours in A&E closes the night with two fresh cases at 10pm and 11:05pm. Check the schedule table above for the full day’s listings.
What time do the main documentaries start on More4?
More4’s documentary strands usually sit between 9pm and 11pm, after the property shows have had the earlier part of the evening. A new series launch or a one-off special can push that earlier, so check the on-screen guide if the evening looks different from usual.
Is More4 free to watch?
Yes, completely free on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat, with advertising breaks but no subscription fee.
Can I watch More4 online for free?
Yes. It streams live at channel4.com/now/m4 and through the Channel 4 app; you’ll need a free Channel 4 account. Most recent episodes also appear on demand shortly after broadcast.
Verdict
More4 doesn’t try to be flashy, and that’s the point. It’s where Channel 4 parks programming that works without gimmicks: a hospital ward, a B&B owner docking marks over a soggy fry-up, a couple arguing about whether they can live 40 minutes from a decent school. The cost of that is a daytime schedule built almost entirely from four recycled formats, which does wear thin if you sit through the whole thing.
Tonight that’s two Car S.O.S rebuilds carrying the early evening, Grand Designs at 7:55pm, a new episode of The Reclaimers: Made in Suffolk at 9pm, then 24 Hours in A&E closing the night with two fresh cases at 10pm and 11:05pm. Most of it is a rerun, but the 9pm slot for once isn’t.
