Legend TV Guide: Listings, Schedule & What’s On Legend Tonight

ChannelsDaily TV Guide
Tonight at a Glance 5 programmes · 6pm–1am

Legend is what the old Horror Channel turned into after its 2022 rebrand: still free to air, still fond of a monster, but now handing most of its evenings to sci-fi, fantasy and action cinema. Tonight keeps to that pattern, running vintage American action and sci-fi series through the day before Bruce Willis’s Tears of the Sun takes the evening’s main film slot.

What’s on Legend today

The overnight film is Shout at the Devil at 1:35am, Roger Moore’s 1976 poaching caper in which a drunken American and an Old Etonian Englishman avenge a ruined ivory racket in Zanzibar by sinking a German battleship. Legend goes off air shortly after 4am and stays dark until teleshopping fills the 5:30am to 8am gap.

Daytime runs on Legend’s usual diet of American genre television. Walker, Texas Ranger opens at 8am with Chuck Norris attending the funeral of Chief Six Feathers, unconvinced the old man’s death was accidental. The Six Million Dollar Man follows at 9am, Steve investigating a photograph that appears to show Bigfoot back on Earth, and Babylon 5’s second season continues at 10am as the Centauri push their expansion and a Narn cruiser arrives seeking sanctuary. Ape vs Monster fills the 11am slot, a 2021 creature feature pitting a giant ape against an oversized Gila monster.

After the Legend Lowdown update at 12:50pm, Arrowhead takes the 1pm slot, Charlton Heston as a cavalry scout convinced an Apache chief’s son is behind raids staged to look like a broken peace deal. The Appaloosa follows at 3pm, Marlon Brando as a cowboy chasing the bandit who stole his prize stallion. Star Trek: The Original Series airs at 5pm, with Spock on trial as the truth about one of Kirk’s predecessors comes out, before the evening repeat run of The Six Million Dollar Man, Babylon 5 and Walker, Texas Ranger begins at 6pm.

Legend tonight — primetime and the evening schedule

Here’s the Legend primetime line-up for tonight, Monday 10 August 2026.

The Six Million Dollar Man — Legend, 6pm

The Six Million Dollar Man (series 5, episode 6) has Steve rushing to get schoolchildren off a stranded mountain tramway before a tornado hits, only to run into a gang of bandits along the way.

Babylon 5 — Legend, 7pm

Babylon 5 (series 3, episode 1) opens its third season as Sheridan moves to aid a blockaded planet, while Earthforce sends a representative to investigate the ship responsible for Lieutenant Keffer’s death.

Walker, Texas Ranger — Legend, 8pm

Walker, Texas Ranger (series 3, episode 7) sends CD, Trivette and Walker fishing, and they stumble onto a drug operation instead.

Tears of the Sun — Legend, 9pm

Tears of the Sun is the 9pm film and the night’s longest commitment at two and a half hours. Bruce Willis leads a Navy SEAL team sent into Nigeria to pull Dr Lena Kendricks, played by Monica Bellucci, out of a country in the middle of a military coup. The mission changes shape once the team refuses to leave the refugees under her protection behind, and what was meant to be a quick extraction becomes a fighting retreat. Antoine Fuqua directs; the film was released in 2003.

P.O.W. the Escape — Legend, 11:30pm

P.O.W. the Escape closes the night at 11:30pm. David Carradine stars in this 1986 action film about a soldier’s attempt to break a group of American prisoners out of a Vietcong camp as the Vietnam War draws to its end.

What kind of shows are on Legend

Cult horror and its Horror Channel roots

Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.

Sci-fi, fantasy and action films

Most evenings belong to genre cinema of a specific vintage: Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, and further back, the fantasy adventures Ray Harryhausen animated. Film4 has the recent theatrical releases covered. Legend is working two or three decades earlier, and there is less competition for that ground than you would think.

Classic genre television

Very few channels still hand hours to vintage American genre TV. Legend does. The Twilight Zone runs as a nightly double bill, and Star Trek, Babylon 5 and The Six Million Dollar Man fill most weekday daytimes.

How to watch Legend

Channel numbers

Here’s where to find Legend across the main UK television platforms:

Platform Channel
Freeview 41
Sky 148
Virgin Media 149
Freesat 137
Freely 38

No subscription is required on any of them. Virgin Media and Freesat numbers can shift depending on your box and region, so trust your on-screen guide over this table if the two disagree.

Streaming online

Legend streams live and free through the WatchFreeUK app, available on Freeview Play, Freesat and YouView, and as a download on iOS, Android, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung and LG smart TVs. No account or sign-up is required, which is more than can be said for most of its rivals. The catch-up section carries a selection of recently broadcast programmes, but licensing means not everything that airs stays available, and windows vary by title.

Legend Xtra and sister channels

Legend Xtra launched on 1 July 2022 as HorrorXtra and took its current name in a November 2023 refresh. Same broad mix of action, sci-fi and horror, free on Freeview channel 69, Sky 317, Virgin Media 171, Freesat 138 and Freely 51, with a +1 timeshift on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat.

Both channels belong to the CBS AMC Networks UK Channels Partnership, a joint venture between Paramount Networks UK & Australia and AMC Networks International UK. True Crime and True Crime Xtra come from the same stable and sit alongside them in the WatchFreeUK app.

Verdict

Legend is not chasing prestige and would look daft if it tried. What it gives instead is proper scheduled hours to material other free channels treat as filler. Horror Channel-era chillers hold the fringes of the schedule, but most nights now belong to the action cinema Van Damme and his contemporaries were making through the 1990s.

Monday keeps to that identity throughout: American genre reruns filling the day, then Tears of the Sun anchoring the evening as tonight’s one certified star vehicle.
