Overnight brings two crime thrillers rather than a genre double bill. Street Kings, with Keanu Reeves as an undercover cop hunting the truth behind a fellow officer’s murder, opens at 1:15am, followed by Danny Dyer in the reformed-convict caper Dead Man Running at 3:15am. Legend goes off air just after 5am, with a card announcing programmes resume at 5:30am, then runs teleshopping until the schedule proper starts at 8am.

Daytime is largely vintage American genre television. Walker, Texas Ranger opens the schedule proper at 8am, followed by The Six Million Dollar Man at 9am and an episode of Babylon 5 at 10am. The Dukes of Hazzard — Legend, 6pm

Legend opens the evening with The Dukes of Hazzard, and it’s series 1, episode 1 — the archive strand going back to the start rather than a new commission. Rosco is running a rigged slot machine, and Bo and Luke’s answer is to divert his takings to charity instead.

Babylon 5 — Legend, 7pm

Babylon 5 follows at 7pm with series 3, episode 18. Sheridan is trying to bring telepaths onto his side against the Shadows, a new arrival takes over Kosh’s old post on the station, and Franklin goes off on his walkabout.

Walker, Texas Ranger — Legend, 8pm

The 8pm hour belongs to Walker, Texas Ranger. A drug lord puts out a contract on a Mexican presidential candidate, and keeping him alive for the length of his Texas trip becomes Walker and Trivette’s job. It’s part one of two, with the concluding episode still to come.

Riot — Legend, 9pm

Riot (2015) takes the 9pm slot. Dolph Lundgren plays a cop out to avenge his wife’s murder, and getting close to the Russian kingpin responsible means engineering his own arrest first, so he sets up a heist purely to land himself behind bars with him. It runs unbroken to 10:55pm – Legend has no split films tonight.

The Fighter — Legend, 10:55pm

At 10:55pm, it’s The Fighter (2010), Mark Wahlberg’s fact-based drama following boxer Micky Ward’s rise to a world title with the help of his brother, a former fighter rebuilding his own life after addiction. Like Riot before it, it runs straight through with no ad-break split.

Horror hasn’t been dropped, just demoted. Amicus and Hammer-adjacent anthologies still turn up, along with independent chillers and oddities like Horror Express, though these days they land in the afternoon or after midnight rather than at 9pm.
