EntertainmentMore4 is Channel 4’s factual and lifestyle channel: property shows, food formats and the fly-on-the-wall documentaries that would crowd out the main channel’s schedule. It launched on 10 October 2005 and has been free to air since 6 May 2008, when it dropped the subscription requirement it had briefly carried on satellite. Wednesday’s full listings are below, with channel numbers further down the page.

What’s on More4 today
Wednesday’s More4 schedule runs to 28 slots built from just 11 unique programmes, with two property/food formats doing almost all of the daytime work: two separate runs of Four in a Bed, decades apart, either side of a run of Come Dine with Me.
Overnight, 999: On the Front Line takes the 12:10am slot (series 6, episode 7), then two episodes of 24 Hours in A&E follow at 1:15am and 2:20am — series 11 episode 8, then series 12 episode 5, from different series rather than a matched pair. The Perfect Pitch airs just after 3:25am, then teleshopping and Discover Must Have Ideas: Shopping fill most of the rest of the night before Find It, Fix It, Flog It takes the 8:55am slot.
Four in a Bed opens the day proper at 10am with five episodes from series 13, run in order through to the pay-up finale at 12:10pm. Come Dine with Me follows straight after: five episodes, all from the West Midlands week and all series 2021, running episode one through five according to their own synopses — though the feed’s episode-number field jumps oddly on the second one, a numbering glitch rather than a genuine skip. Four in a Bed then returns at 3:20pm for another five-episode run, this one from series 2 — a much older run with no connection to the morning’s series 13 story. None of the daytime schedule reaches primetime. Two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations close out the afternoon from 5:55pm before tonight’s headline block takes over — see below.
More4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the More4 primetime line-up for tonight, Wednesday 2 September 2026. It’s a quiet night for the channel — no launches, no premieres, just the usual run of factual and property programming.
Car S.O.S — More4, 5:55pm and 6:50pm
Two consecutive editions of Car S.O.S close out the afternoon, series 7 episodes 6 and 7: a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus rescued in Forfar, then a tired VW T4 campervan in Kent. The second one edges into the start of the evening.
Grand Designs — More4, 7:55pm
At 7:55pm, it’s Grand Designs (series 18, episode 5): Beth and Andrew take on a derelict Victorian dairy in south east London, gutted and exposed to the elements, aiming to shape it into a family home while the build keeps raising the same question — whether there’s enough of the old structure left worth saving.
Roman Empire by Train with Alice Roberts — More4, 9pm
The 9pm hour belongs to Roman Empire by Train with Alice Roberts (series 1, the penultimate episode of six). Alice Roberts explores Nîmes before heading on to Narbonne and boarding a train into Spain.
24 Hours in A&E — More4, 10pm and 11:05pm
Two editions of 24 Hours in A&E close the night, at 10pm and 11:05pm. Despite sitting back to back in the schedule, they aren’t a consecutive pair — both series 12, but four episodes apart.
What kind of shows are on More4
Fly-on-the-wall documentary
This is the strand More4 is known for. 24 Hours in A&E and 999: On the Front Line both use the same method: fixed cameras, real emergencies, no reconstructions. Neither has changed that formula in over a decade of running.
Property and food formats
A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me anchor the daytime and early-evening schedule. One is about the fantasy of starting again somewhere warmer; the other is about strangers cooking for each other and being far too honest about the results. Four in a Bed does the same job for the B&B trade. Between them they account for most of what More4 broadcasts before 6pm.
Imported drama and classic comedy
More4 also fills gaps with imported crime drama, a fair amount of Nordic noir, and repeats from Channel 4’s own sitcom back-catalogue. It’s schedule filler between the factual strands rather than anything the channel commissions for itself.
How to watch More4
Channel numbers
Here’s where to find More4 across the main UK television platforms:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 18 |
| Sky (England, Wales, NI) | 136 |
| Sky (Scotland) | 137 |
| Virgin Media | 147 |
| Virgin Media +1 | 347 |
| Freesat | 124 |
More4 is free on all of the above, with no subscription required.
Streaming online
More4 streams live and free at channel4.com/now/m4 and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and PlayStation. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Recent episodes of most More4 shows are also available to watch on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform shortly after broadcast.
More4 +1 and sister channels
More4 +1 runs the schedule an hour behind on Virgin Media, channel 347, but was withdrawn from Freeview back in June 2022. If you miss the start of something on Freeview, the Channel 4 on-demand service is the more reliable way to catch up.
More4 sits alongside Channel 4’s other free channels: the main Channel 4 service, E4 (entertainment and US imports), Film4 (movies) and 4seven (catch-up repeats).
Frequently asked questions
What’s on More4 tonight?
Tonight, Wednesday 2 September 2026, two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations close out the afternoon at 5:55pm and 6:50pm, then Grand Designs at 7:55pm and Roman Empire by Train with Alice Roberts at 9pm — the penultimate episode of series 1. The night closes with two editions of 24 Hours in A&E, at 10pm and 11:05pm, both series 12 but four episodes apart rather than a consecutive run. No film tonight. Full times are in the schedule table above.
What time do the main documentaries start on More4?
More4’s documentary strands usually sit between 9pm and 11pm, after the property shows have had the earlier part of the evening. A new series launch or a one-off special can push that earlier, so check the on-screen guide if the evening looks different from usual.
Is More4 free to watch?
Yes, completely free on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat, with advertising breaks but no subscription fee.
Can I watch More4 online for free?
Yes. It streams live at channel4.com/now/m4 and through the Channel 4 app; you’ll need a free Channel 4 account. Most recent episodes also appear on demand shortly after broadcast.
Verdict
More4 doesn’t try to be flashy, and that’s the point. It’s where Channel 4 parks programming that works without gimmicks: a B&B owner docking marks over a soggy fry-up, or a couple gutting a derelict Victorian dairy and betting it can still become a family home. Wednesday’s daytime schedule leans on the same two formats twice over — two unrelated Four in a Bed runs, decades apart, bookending a run of Come Dine with Me — just 11 unique programmes across 28 slots before the evening even starts.
Tonight’s primetime is a quiet one, and honestly so: two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations lead into Grand Designs at 7:55pm, then Roman Empire by Train with Alice Roberts and two editions of 24 Hours in A&E carry the schedule through to midnight — the latter four episodes apart despite the matching title. No film tonight, no launches, just the property, travel and documentary mix More4 turns to most weeknights.
