More4 is Channel 4’s factual and lifestyle channel: property shows, food formats and the fly-on-the-wall documentaries that would crowd out the main channel’s schedule. It launched on 10 October 2005 and has been free to air since 6 May 2008, when it dropped the subscription requirement it had briefly carried on satellite. Monday’s More4 schedule runs to 28 slots built from 11 unique programmes, with the same two formats doing most of the daytime work: Four in a Bed twice over and a full week of Come Dine with Me between them.

Overnight, 24 Hours in A&E closes out the previous night just after midnight (series 11, episode 10), followed by Surgeons: Life in Their Hands and Police Rescue. The Perfect Pitch calls in just after 3am, then Discover Must Have Ideas: Shopping fills most of the rest of the night before Find It, Fix It, Flog It takes the 8:55am slot.

Four in a Bed opens the day proper at 10am with five episodes from series 13, run in order through to the pay-up finale. Come Dine with Me follows from 12:40pm, five episodes from its Huddersfield week — 4seven is covering a different week, Lichfield, in the same afternoon slot, so the two channels aren’t showing the same dinners despite the overlap. Four in a Bed then returns at 3:20pm for another five-episode run, but this one comes from series 2, a much older set of guesthouses with no connection to the morning’s series 13 story. None of the daytime schedule reaches primetime. It’s series 19 episode 6, one of the strand’s more divisive builds — concrete is not an easy material to make sympathetic on camera, and this episode leans into that rather than smoothing it over.

PopMaster TV — More4, 9pm

Ken Bruce leads five new contestants through the fourth heat of series 5. The schedule flags this slot as new, and the episode itself is, but it is not a new series, whatever the on-screen blurb suggests elsewhere — series 5 has been running for weeks, and tonight is simply the next heat.

24 Hours in A&E — More4, 10pm

Series 11 continues with one of the strand’s harder watches: an eleven-year-old boy, hit by a motorbike on his very first day of secondary school.

24 Hours in A&E — More4, 11:05pm

A second episode follows at 11:05pm, series 11 episode 11 — not the instalment that comes straight after the 10pm showing. Episode 10 aired at midnight at the start of today’s schedule, so the two episodes tonight bookend one that most viewers will have missed unless they were up in the small hours. This one follows a 12-year-old girl who needs emergency brain surgery after falling from a cliff.

This is the strand More4 is known for. 24 Hours in A&E and 999: On the Front Line both use the same method: fixed cameras, real emergencies, no reconstructions. Neither has changed that formula in over a decade of running.

Property and food formats

A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me anchor the daytime and early-evening schedule. One is about the fantasy of starting again somewhere warmer; the other is about strangers cooking for each other and being far too honest about the results. Four in a Bed does the same job for the B&B trade. Between them they account for most of what More4 broadcasts before 6pm.

Imported drama and classic comedy

More4 also fills gaps with imported crime drama, a fair amount of Nordic noir, and repeats from Channel 4’s own sitcom back-catalogue. It’s schedule filler between the factual strands rather than anything the channel commissions for itself.
