EntertainmentMore4 is Channel 4’s factual and lifestyle channel: property shows, food formats and the fly-on-the-wall documentaries that would crowd out the main channel’s schedule. It launched on 10 October 2005 and has been free to air since 6 May 2008, when it dropped the subscription requirement it had briefly carried on satellite. Thursday’s full listings are below, with channel numbers further down the page.

What’s on More4 today
Thursday’s More4 schedule runs to 27 slots built from a handful of unique programmes, with two property/food formats doing almost all of the daytime work: two Four in a Bed blocks either side of a run of Come Dine with Me, though only one of those blocks is actually a clean week.
Overnight, 999: On the Front Line takes the 12:10am slot (series 6, episode 8), then two episodes of 24 Hours in A&E follow at 1:15am and 2:20am — both series 12, but four episodes apart (12, then 16) rather than a matched pair. The Perfect Pitch airs just after 3:25am, then teleshopping and Discover Must Have Ideas: Shopping fill most of the rest of the night before Find It, Fix It, Flog It takes the 8:55am slot.
Four in a Bed opens the day proper at 10am with five episodes from series 13, run in order through to the pay-up finale at 12:10pm — a complete competition week. Come Dine with Me follows straight after: five episodes from the Chelmsford week, series 2023, running in order from episode 26 to episode 30. Four in a Bed then returns at 3:20pm, but this block isn’t a clean run: series 2 episode 46 is followed by series 6 episode 37 — a different series entirely — before series 2 resumes for episodes 48, 49 and 50. None of the daytime schedule reaches primetime. Two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations close out the afternoon from 5:55pm before tonight’s headline block takes over — see below.
More4 tonight — primetime and the evening schedule
Here’s the More4 primetime line-up for tonight, Thursday 3 September 2026, and tonight it’s a genuine launch night.
Sandi’s Ireland: A Literary Journey — More4, 9pm
Sandi Toksvig opens a brand new two-part series at 9pm, the first episode of a genuine launch rather than another instalment of something already running. She travels to Dublin to meet the novelist Marian Keyes and takes in the landscapes that shaped W.B. Yeats’s writing — part travelogue, part literary history, built around Toksvig’s own enthusiasm for the subject. Part two follows later in the run.
Grand Designs — More4, 7:55pm
Kevin McCloud checks in on a self-build ahead of tonight’s main event: a wheelchair-accessible family home drawn up by a design engineer who is paralysed below the waist, and the build tests both his budget and his marriage.
Car S.O.S — More4, 5:55pm & 6:50pm
Two consecutive restorations lead into the evening: a Lamborghini Espada at 5:55pm, then a Ford Escort Mexico at 6:50pm.
24 Hours in A&E — More4, 10pm & 11:05pm
Two unrelated episodes close the night rather than a matched pair. The 10pm edition (series 13) follows a 79-year-old airlifted in after a road collision; the 11:05pm edition (series 12) covers a serious wound and a cardiac case.
What kind of shows are on More4
Fly-on-the-wall documentary
This is the strand More4 is known for. 24 Hours in A&E and 999: On the Front Line both use the same method: fixed cameras, real emergencies, no reconstructions. Neither has changed that formula in over a decade of running.
Property and food formats
A Place in the Sun and Come Dine with Me anchor the daytime and early-evening schedule. One is about the fantasy of starting again somewhere warmer; the other is about strangers cooking for each other and being far too honest about the results. Four in a Bed does the same job for the B&B trade. Between them they account for most of what More4 broadcasts before 6pm.
Imported drama and classic comedy
More4 also fills gaps with imported crime drama, a fair amount of Nordic noir, and repeats from Channel 4’s own sitcom back-catalogue. It’s schedule filler between the factual strands rather than anything the channel commissions for itself.
How to watch More4
Channel numbers
Here’s where to find More4 across the main UK television platforms:
| Platform | Channel |
|---|---|
| Freeview | 18 |
| Sky (England, Wales, NI) | 136 |
| Sky (Scotland) | 137 |
| Virgin Media | 147 |
| Virgin Media +1 | 347 |
| Freesat | 124 |
More4 is free on all of the above, with no subscription required.
Streaming online
More4 streams live and free at channel4.com/now/m4 and via the Channel 4 app on smart TVs, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and PlayStation. You’ll need a free Channel 4 account, which costs nothing to set up. Recent episodes of most More4 shows are also available to watch on demand through Channel 4’s streaming platform shortly after broadcast.
More4 +1 and sister channels
More4 +1 runs the schedule an hour behind on Virgin Media, channel 347, but was withdrawn from Freeview back in June 2022. If you miss the start of something on Freeview, the Channel 4 on-demand service is the more reliable way to catch up.
More4 sits alongside Channel 4’s other free channels: the main Channel 4 service, E4 (entertainment and US imports), Film4 (movies) and 4seven (catch-up repeats).
Frequently asked questions
What’s on More4 tonight?
Tonight, Thursday 3 September 2026, two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations close out the afternoon at 5:55pm and 6:50pm, then Grand Designs at 7:55pm. The headline slot is 9pm: the launch of Sandi’s Ireland: A Literary Journey, a brand new two-part series with Sandi Toksvig meeting Marian Keyes in Dublin and visiting the landscapes that inspired Yeats. The night closes with two editions of 24 Hours in A&E, at 10pm and 11:05pm — different series entirely (13 and 12) rather than a matched pair. No film tonight. Full times are in the schedule table above.
What time do the main documentaries start on More4?
More4’s documentary strands usually sit between 9pm and 11pm, after the property shows have had the earlier part of the evening. A new series launch or a one-off special can push that earlier, so check the on-screen guide if the evening looks different from usual.
Is More4 free to watch?
Yes, completely free on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat, with advertising breaks but no subscription fee.
Can I watch More4 online for free?
Yes. It streams live at channel4.com/now/m4 and through the Channel 4 app; you’ll need a free Channel 4 account. Most recent episodes also appear on demand shortly after broadcast.
Verdict
More4 doesn’t try to be flashy, and that’s the point. It’s where Channel 4 parks programming that works without gimmicks: a B&B owner docking marks over a soggy fry-up, or a couple gutting a derelict Victorian dairy and betting it can still become a family home. Thursday’s daytime schedule leans on the same two formats — Four in a Bed twice over, though only the morning block is a clean week, bookending a run of Come Dine with Me from Chelmsford.
Tonight is an exception to More4’s usual quiet evenings: two consecutive Car S.O.S. restorations lead into Grand Designs at 7:55pm, then Sandi Toksvig launches a brand new two-part series at 9pm, meeting Marian Keyes in Dublin and following the trail of W.B. Yeats. Two unrelated editions of 24 Hours in A&E close the night. A genuine new series is a rare thing for this channel, and it’s worth switching over for.
