Mel Gibson leads the fact-based account of the first major battle of the Vietnam War, in which an outnumbered American division found itself surrounded. It’s the night’s main event, and at nearly three hours it carries the schedule most of the way to the late film.

Basic Instinct — Legend, 11:55pm

The late film is Paul Verhoeven’s era-defining thriller: Michael Douglas plays a detective whose judgement gives way to his fixation on Sharon Stone’s chief suspect.
