E4 is Channel 4’s younger-skewing entertainment channel: American sitcom reruns through the day, reality formats after dark, and the Hollyoaks first-look Monday to Wednesday at 7pm. Tuesday 15 September 2026 has Hollyoaks in its usual slot. Overnight opens with a Naked Attraction repeat just after midnight, then a Made in Chelsea rerun and Below Deck Down Under carry the small hours before Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA and a run of Simpsons, Goldbergs and Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes fill the gap to breakfast. Two Hollyoaks repeats at 6am and 6:30am get the day’s episode count up to date ahead of tonight’s new instalment, followed by Couples Come Dine with Me and a further Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA double bill.

Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA runs a two-episode block from 8am, then two editions of America’s Funniest Home Videos take the late morning. The Simpsons opens the afternoon with four episodes back to back, before The Goldbergs and a four-episode run of Modern Family carry through to early evening, when The Simpsons returns for another four editions running up to primetime.

The Simpsons — E4, 6pm and 6:30pm

Two back-to-back episodes from series 11 close out the afternoon’s rotation before the evening’s own line-up gets going.

Hollyoaks — E4, 7pm

Cindy drops a remark that sets Dee Dee’s suspicions running, and by the end of the episode she’s started assembling the pieces herself. A pregnancy test turning up at the McQueen house gives the plot its second thread. This is the soap’s normal Tuesday first-look, a day ahead of Channel 4, not a launch despite the “new” flag.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine — E4, 7:30pm

Series one, episode twelve keeps the Nine-Nine’s early-run energy going — Jake Peralta angling for a deal with a suspect to nail a car thief, before the show had fully settled into its later ensemble rhythm.

Below Deck Down Under — E4, 8pm

A genuinely new episode (series 4, episode 2), and it needs to be: a demanding guest keeps the crew running between decks all charter long, the kind of pressure this format thrives on.

Gogglebox — E4, 9pm

The sofa critics work through a mixed bag of the week’s viewing, taking in Made in Chelsea, Dragons’ Den and Line of Duty. No episode of Made in Chelsea itself airs on E4 tonight, so this is as close as the schedule gets to it.

First Dates — E4, 10pm

Twenty-nine-year-old Georgina is back on the circuit, paired this time with a 36-year-old security guard.

Naked Attraction — E4, 11:05pm

A 70-year-old contestant is looking for a partner to settle down with, which makes for a gentler edition than the show’s reputation usually suggests.

Reality

Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition and the one that reorders the whole schedule when a series is on. Three or four episodes a week, strangers paired off by “experts”, married at first meeting, then sat at a dinner party until somebody says the unforgivable thing. The UK version plays much quieter. Its couples absorb the pressure rather than detonate at the table, which is more realistic and considerably less watchable.

Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016 and has never changed shape: two relationship coaches, currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, a handful of celebrity clients, and dates with members of the public.

Soap

Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995 and in E4’s first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It takes on the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, while keeping the pace quick and the cast young.

US comedy

The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor daytime, and all three sit on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the exception to everything. E4 holds so much of it that a single day can jump across two decades of the show without anyone at the channel appearing to mind.

E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family

E4 +1 on Freeview 30 is a straight one-hour timeshift, so 7pm here is 8pm there.

E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot 4Music vacated, and sits on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.

Both sit in the wider Channel 4 family alongside the main channel, More4 for factual and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money and no government subsidy, a distinction worth remembering the next time somebody complains about the adverts.

Tuesday’s primetime runs without its usual anchor. Made in Chelsea doesn’t feature at all tonight, so Below Deck Down Under’s new episode at 8pm carries more of the evening’s weight than it normally would, and does a reasonable job of it — a demanding guest gives the crew plenty to react to. Brooklyn Nine-Nine at 7:30pm remains sharper than its daytime rotation slot suggests. Gogglebox, First Dates and Naked Attraction close out the night from 9pm, a longer stretch of dating and reaction formats than usual with the Chelsea crowd absent.

Daytime keeps to the channel’s usual habits: two Hollyoaks catch-up repeats open the morning, then Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA and America’s Funniest Home Videos carry into a long Simpsons-and-Modern-Family afternoon.
