4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.

It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Overnight, Celebrity Gogglebox and a regular Gogglebox lead into Taskmaster’s series 22 opener at 2:20am, then 24 Hours in A&E and a Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds repeat carry the schedule to 4:45am, when Teleshopping takes over until 9am.

Three A Place in the Sun episodes, from three different series, open the daytime proper from 9am, then Come Dine with Me runs five consecutive half-hours from 11:30am, all drawn from the same 2013 series. The Bridge on the River Kwai, David Lean’s 1957 war epic, fills the whole of mid-afternoon from 2pm to just after 5pm.

Kevin McCloud follows a couple converting a derelict 17th-century Cornish flour mill into a three-bedroom home, one of the more ambitious builds the show has covered.

9/11: Days That Shocked the World — 4seven, 10pm and 11pm

An actual two-parter, not a repeat split in half: part one at 10pm draws on accounts from rescue workers, survivors and witnesses, and part two at 11pm covers the towers’ collapse and the crash in Pennsylvania.
