4seven is Channel 4’s catch-up channel. It commissions nothing. What it does instead is take whatever from across the Channel 4 stable (Channel 4, E4, More4 and Film4) got people talking over the previous seven days and put it out again, which is where the name comes from.

It launched on 4 July 2012, Channel 4’s first new linear channel since More4 in 2005, and the premise hasn’t changed since. Overnight, Joe Lycett’s stand-up special and Attack the Block lead into a genuine two-part instalment of The Jury: 14 and on Trial for Murder at 2:50am and 3:50am, before Teleshopping takes over from 4:50am until 9am.

Ten Four in a Bed episodes then run almost without a break from 9am to 1:30pm, drawn from two different series, before Location, Location, Location and Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It: Brilliant Builds hold the early afternoon. Four separate A Place in the Sun episodes carry the schedule from 4pm through to 7pm, when the last of them opens primetime.
