Overnight runs Naked Attraction’s Best Naughty Bits, a Below Deck Down Under repeat and Gogglebox, then Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA, a Simpsons episode, two Goldbergs episodes, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family carry it to the two Hollyoaks catch-up repeats at 6am and 6:30am that open every first-look day. Couples Come Dine with Me and a further Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA episode carry breakfast into mid-morning.

Two America’s Funniest Home Videos episodes, four Simpsons episodes and two Goldbergs episodes fill the middle of the day, then four Modern Family episodes and another four-strong Simpsons run take the schedule right up to primetime.

Here’s the E4 primetime line-up for tonight, Tuesday 8 September 2026.

The Simpsons — E4, 6pm

Another slice of the enormous Simpsons library airs back to back with the episode that follows at 6:30pm, part of a run that jumps around different eras of the show with little apparent pattern. It’s filler ahead of the evening’s soap rather than a themed selection, but longtime fans rarely seem to mind which season turns up.

The second half of the pairing runs straight on, closing out the pre-soap slot before the schedule turns to Hollyoaks.

Hollyoaks — E4, 7pm

The week’s second new episode airs a full day ahead of its Channel 4 broadcast, as usual for the first-look arrangement. Storylines continue from Monday’s episode rather than opening anything new, keeping the soap’s ongoing plots moving.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine — E4, 7:30pm

The Nine-Nine detectives get their regular half hour before the evening’s factual programming takes over. Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta and the rest of the precinct have aired here often enough that this slot functions as much as a bridge into primetime as a standalone watch.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer — E4, 8pm

Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding host, with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood judging, as four celebrities take on the tent for charity: Richard Dreyfuss, Patsy Palmer, James Buckley and Scarlett Moffatt make up tonight’s line-up. The format keeps the usual technical and showstopper challenges but trades the competitive edge for a lighter, for-a-good-cause tone, with money raised going to Stand Up To Cancer.

Below Deck Down Under — E4, 9pm

This closes out season three of the yacht-based reality format, following Captain Jason Chambers and his crew through the final charter of the season. Despite the on-screen “New” flag, this is the season finale rather than a launch, and the closing charter brings at least one unexpected hook-up and a blow-up among crew members before the season wraps.

Sarah Millican: Control Enthusiast — E4, 10pm

A rerun of the Geordie comedian’s fifth stand-up tour, recorded during its run and covering the sort of material she built her reputation on: hospital gowns, bra fittings and biscuit etiquette, delivered with the bluntness that’s made her one of Britain’s most reliably filthy comics.

First Dates — E4, 11pm

Fresh strangers, the same London restaurant, and the maître d’ and waiting staff steering things along as ever. The format hasn’t changed in a decade because it doesn’t need to: some pairings click, most don’t, and the show gets its laughs from both outcomes equally.

Reality

Married at First Sight Australia is E4’s most-watched acquisition and the one that reorders the whole schedule when a series is on. Three or four episodes a week, strangers paired off by “experts”, married at first meeting, then sat at a dinner party until somebody says the unforgivable thing. The UK version plays much quieter. Its couples absorb the pressure rather than detonate at the table, which is more realistic and considerably less watchable.

Celebs Go Dating has been on E4 since 2016 and has never changed shape: two relationship coaches, currently Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, a handful of celebrity clients, and dates with members of the public.

Soap

Hollyoaks has been on Channel 4 since 1995 and in E4’s first-look slot long enough that most viewers under 35 have never known it any other way. It takes on the heavy issue storylines soaps go in for, mental health and addiction and the rest, while keeping the pace quick and the cast young.

US comedy

The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Modern Family anchor daytime, and all three sit on Channel 4’s streaming service on demand. The Simpsons is the exception to everything. E4 holds so much of it that a single day can jump across two decades of the show without anyone at the channel appearing to mind.

E4 +1, E4 Extra and the Channel 4 family

E4 +1 on Freeview 30 is a straight one-hour timeshift, so 7pm here is 8pm there.

E4 Extra is the sister channel for repeats and extra runs of E4’s biggest shows. It launched in 2022 in the slot 4Music vacated, and sits on Freeview 31 and Sky 139.

Both sit in the wider Channel 4 family alongside the main channel, More4 for factual and Film4 for cinema. All of them are commercially funded. Channel 4 is publicly owned but takes no licence fee money and no government subsidy, a distinction worth remembering the next time somebody complains about the adverts.
