Twelve amateur bakers take on a signature, a technical and a showstopper challenge each week in the tent, and one leaves every episode until three reach the final. Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond present the 2026 series, and Paul Hollywood judges it with Nigella Lawson, who replaced Prue Leith.

Bake Off 2026: how the series runs
Series 17 started on Tuesday 22 September 2026 at 8pm on Channel 4. It has twelve bakers and ten weekly episodes. Most run for 75 minutes, so Tuesday’s episode finishes at 9.15pm; the opening episode ran longer. Tuesday’s episode is a first showing; the same episode is repeated later in the week, which is why Bake Off can appear in the listings on a Wednesday night or a Saturday afternoon.
