When is Murder in Belfast: Sisters Seeking Justice on BBC Two?
Episode 3 is on BBC Two on Wednesday 11 November 2026, from 9pm until 10pm. It is the final part of a three-episode series, so there is nothing after it to wait for. The listing is flagged as a new episode, carries subtitles and is shown in HD.
BBC Two attaches a warning to the hour for some strong language and for scenes that viewers may find upsetting, so bear that in mind before watching with younger people in the room. The rest of the evening on the channel is in our BBC Two TV guide.
Who was Robert McCartney?
Robert McCartney was a 33-year-old Belfast man with two children. Late on 30 January 2005 he was knifed outside a bar in the city and died of his wounds.
Within weeks of the killing, the IRA expelled three of its members over it.
What is the series about?
The series follows Robert’s family, his sisters above all, through the years after his death. They refused to stay quiet, and they carried their demand for answers well beyond Belfast, to Britain and to America.
Across three hours the documentary sets the family’s story against the police investigation, the IRA’s own moves and the political fallout from the killing.
What happens in the final episode?
The last hour picks up the police inquiry as detectives start to feel they are getting near the men they want. They have a problem: some of the people who saw what happened had already been questioned by the IRA, which was running an inquiry of its own. As the political fallout eases, the case finally heads for court, and the family hope all their years of pressure will pay off.
That is as far as we go. The episode itself is the place to see how it plays out.
