Series 2 starts Tuesday 10 November 2026 at 9pm on Channel 5, with episode 2 straight after at 9.45pm.

Forensics: Murder Scene, the Channel 5 documentary that follows detectives and forensic officers through a real murder inquiry, is back for a second series. The new run opens with two episodes in a row on Tuesday 10 November, from 9pm to 10.30pm, and both deal with one case from South Wales.

Updated Wednesday 4 November 2026, before series 2 airs. Nothing here goes past what Channel 5’s listings say about the case.

What time is Forensics: Murder Scene on?

Episode 1 of series 2 is at 9pm on Tuesday 10 November 2026 on Channel 5 and runs for 45 minutes. Episode 2 starts at 9.45pm the same evening and ends at 10.30pm, so the whole of the opening case fills an hour and a half. The listings flag the programme as new, with subtitles, and it is shown in HD on Channel 5 HD.

No later episode is in the listings yet. They only run about a week ahead, so we will add the next date here and to our Channel 5 TV guide as soon as it appears.

What is Forensics: Murder Scene about?

Each case is told from the inside. The cameras stay with the police and the forensic specialists from the first hours after a body is found, when evidence has to be secured before it is lost, through lab work, CCTV, searches and interviews with a suspect. The focus is on how the evidence is gathered and tested, rather than on reconstructions or speculation.

It is a factual series about real deaths, so expect scenes from homes where people have died and frank talk about how they were killed.

What is the case in series 2?

The first case is set in Porthcawl, on the South Wales coast. South Wales Police officers are called to a house where an elderly woman lived with her adult son. She has not been seen for months, and when the house is searched her body is found inside a chest freezer.

Crime scene specialists and a team of murder detectives take over. Their job in episode 1 is to work out how she died and whether her son was responsible for her death. In episode 2 the son is under arrest, and the detectives dig into a strained relationship between mother and son and look at whether money could have been a motive.

That is as far as this page goes. We will not give away the outcome before the episodes air.
