SportWhat’s on TV tonight, Sunday 1 November 2026: Blue Planet III begins on BBC One at 8pm, after the Strictly Come Dancing results show at 7.10pm. Sky Sports F1 has the Mexico City Grand Prix with lights out at 8pm, Liverpool v Arsenal kicks off at 4.30pm on Sky, and Match of the Day is on at 10.30pm. EastEnders isn’t on BBC One tonight, but there’s an omnibus on BBC Three from 7pm.
Quick Picks: Tonight’s Best
- Blue Planet III BBC One, 8pm. If you only watch one TV show tonight, make it this.
- Mexico City Grand Prix Sky Sports F1, lights out 8pm. Channel 4 has highlights after midnight.
- Liverpool v Arsenal Sky Sports Main Event, 4.30pm. Highlights on Match of the Day at 10.30pm.
- Strictly Come Dancing: The Results BBC One, 7.10pm.
- This City Is Ours BBC One, 9pm. Or Bradley Walsh’s new quiz on Channel 4.
Watch: What’s On TV Tonight
Early Evening
Liverpool v Arsenal – Sky Sports Main Event, 4.30pm
Liverpool v Arsenal is Sunday’s only Premier League game, kicking off at Anfield at 4.30pm. Sky has it on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with the build-up from 3pm and post-match chat until 7.30pm. No Sky? Match of the Day has the highlights tonight. Our Premier League on TV page has the wider weekend.
Guy Fawkes: Gunpowder, Treason & Plot – Channel 5, 4.50pm
Channel 5 has a timely two-hour documentary at 4.50pm, four days before Bonfire Night. Xand van Tulleken and the historian Tracy Borman go back over the Gunpowder Plot. It’s a decent way to spend a Sunday afternoon. 5 News Weekend follows at 6.50pm.
NFL on 5: Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions – 5Action, 5.30pm
5Action shows Vikings at Lions live from 5.30pm until 9pm, with Osi Umenyiora, Sam Quek and Efe Obada in the studio. Free-to-air NFL still feels a bit of a novelty. Channel 5 picks up with a second game at 9pm, and our NFL on TV page has the rest.
Countryfile – BBC One, 5.40pm
Countryfile is on BBC One at 5.40pm. Vick Hope visits Forest Green Rovers in Gloucestershire, and Matt Baker goes to see how organic beer gets made. Wallace & Gromit’s The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is on earlier, at 2pm, if the family wants something to watch first.
The Reluctant Vampire – BBC One, 6.40pm
The Reluctant Vampire is on BBC One at 6.40pm. This is episode five of six, in which the family disguise themselves as humans to track down Wilf. It’s a half-hour of gentle nonsense before the Strictly results.
Prime Time
EastEnders Omnibus – BBC Three, 7pm
EastEnders isn’t on BBC One tonight, but you can still catch it. BBC Three has an omnibus of four half-hour episodes from 7pm to 9pm. That’s a good catch-up for anyone who missed a few nights this week. The soap is back on BBC One at 7.30pm on Monday.
BBC Young Musician 2026: The Final – BBC Two, 7pm
Earlier on BBC Two, Eva Longoria: Searching for France is on at 5.20pm. The BBC Young Musician final follows at 7pm for two hours, from Bristol Beacon with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Petroc Trelawny hosts. It’s a long watch, but the playing is the point.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Results – BBC One, 7.10pm
The Halloween week results show is on BBC One at 7.10pm for 50 minutes, and the professionals do a Dracula-themed group routine. The late start is down to The Reluctant Vampire going out first. How to watch Strictly explains where to catch up.
Blue Planet III – BBC One, 8pm ⭐
Blue Planet III is the one to watch tonight. It starts on BBC One at 8pm, and tonight’s first episode, of six, is set in the tropical seas. David Attenborough narrates, and episodes 1–3 are already on iPlayer, so you can get ahead if you like.
The original Blue Planet is the standard every sea documentary gets held to, and Blue Planet II in 2017 was a huge Sunday hit. This follow-up has a lot to live up to. I’d watch the first episode on a big screen, lights down, phone in another room.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? – ITV1, 8pm
ITV1 has Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? at 8pm with Jeremy Clarkson. It’s the same familiar format, and Clarkson’s still the host people love to disagree about. Celebrity Catchphrase is on at 7pm.
Mexico City Grand Prix – Sky Sports F1, 8pm
What time is the F1 today? Lights out at the Mexico City Grand Prix is 8pm on Sky Sports F1, with the build-up from 6.30pm and a simulcast on Sky Sports Main Event. Channel 4’s listing has Kimi Antonelli able to clinch the title this weekend, with only Lewis Hamilton and George Russell still able to catch him. Our F1 schedule page has the full calendar. Channel 4 has highlights after midnight, so you can avoid Sky entirely if you can stay up.
This City Is Ours – BBC One, 9pm
This City Is Ours is on BBC One at 9pm. It’s episode three of eight in the second series, and Michael faces an impossible choice if he’s to save someone he loves. There’s a warning for strong language and violence. All episodes are on iPlayer.
Adultery – ITV1, 9pm
Adultery is on ITV1 at 9pm, and tonight is episode three. Tom and Beth go away for a weekend together. The full series is on ITVX if you need to catch up on the first two episodes.
Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot – Channel 4, 9pm
Channel 4 launches Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot at 9pm. It’s a new quiz series, with a secret twist the broadcaster is keeping quiet, and it runs for 65 minutes. I’m sceptical about any quiz that needs a secret, but Walsh is hard to dislike.
Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing – BBC Two, 9pm
Gone Fishing is back on BBC Two at 9pm. This is the second of six new episodes. Bob and Paul go after bream, and Paul’s 1970s-themed birthday party is held in a historic tower. The pair still clearly enjoy each other. A Course Called Ireland follows at 9.30pm.
Big Brother – ITV2, 9pm
ITV2 has a new episode of Big Brother at 9pm, and Big Brother: The Group Chat with Kate Lawler and GK Barry at 10pm. Earlier, the channel has Bruce Almighty from 6.55pm.
The Creator – Film4, 9pm
Film4 shows The Creator at 9pm, the 2023 science-fiction film about a war between humans and artificial intelligence. It finishes around 11.40pm, and Ex Machina follows. That’s a decent double bill for anyone who likes their robots with a conscience.
NFL on 5: Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos – Channel 5, 9pm
Chiefs at Broncos is live on Channel 5 from 9pm to 12.30am, hosted by Dermot O’Leary. It’s the free game of the night. Sky Sports Main Event shows the same game at 10pm, after the Grand Prix. Before it, Channel 5 has The Plaza: New York’s Grand Hotel at 7pm.
Late Night
Later… with Jools Holland – BBC Two, 10pm
Later… with Jools Holland is on BBC Two at 10pm. Skepta, Bloc Party, Jordan Rakei and Johnny and Lillie Flynn are on, and the guest list also includes Rita Wilson. Skepta alone makes it worth staying up for. Walk the Line follows at 10.45pm.
Gogglebox – Channel 4, 10.05pm
Gogglebox is on Channel 4 at 10.05pm for 55 minutes, straight after Million Pound Shot. This is a repeat of Friday’s episode (series 28, episode 9), so skip it if you saw that. An older episode, in which the cast also discuss The Great Celebrity Bake Off, is on at 11pm.
John Wick – ITV1, 10.25pm
ITV1 shows John Wick at 10.25pm, the 2014 action film with Keanu Reeves as the retired hitman. It runs until about 12.10am. The plot is about a puppy and a car, and it’s still brilliantly done.
Match of the Day – BBC One, 10.30pm
Match of the Day is on BBC One at 10.30pm for 40 minutes, with Kelly Cates presenting. Tonight’s programme is built around Liverpool v Arsenal alone, and Merv, a 2025 film about a depressed dog, follows at 11.10pm.
Elsewhere in the Freeview TV guide tonight, BBC Four has Antiques Roadshow at 7pm and Macbeth at 10pm, ITV3 has two Midsomer Murders from 6pm, E4 has The Other Woman at 10pm, More4 has 999: On the Front Line at 9pm, 5USA has two Columbo films from 6.05pm, Drama has Silent Witness at 9pm, Dave has Have I Got a Bit More News for You at 9pm, Yesterday has Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics at 9pm, Talking Pictures TV has The Bargee at 7pm, Legend has The Last Stand at 9pm, Sky Documentaries has Boyzone: One for the Road at 8pm and Boyzone: The Final Concert at 9pm, and Sky Arts has I Am Patrick Swayze at 9.20pm.
Sport
Sky has the two big ones: Liverpool v Arsenal at 4.30pm and the Grand Prix at 8pm. On free TV, BBC Two shows Charlton v Chelsea in the Women’s Super League from 2.15pm, and there’s NFL on 5Action and Channel 5. TNT Sports 2 has the New York City Marathon from 1.30pm. More in sport on TV today and football on TV today.

Final Verdict
Blue Planet III first, ideally on the biggest screen in the house. Anyone with Sky has a clash at 8pm between that and the Mexico City Grand Prix, which is a good reason to remember iPlayer exists.
Million Pound Shot or a Gogglebox repeat can fill the late slot, and Match of the Day is there if you want Liverpool v Arsenal without the build-up.
