Watch: What’s On TV Tonight

Early Evening

Pointless – BBC One, 5.15pm

Pointless is on BBC One at 5.15pm, with Alexander Armstrong and Sally Phillips as co-host. Forty-five minutes of tea-time quizzing, then the BBC News at Six.

House of Games – BBC Two, 6pm

House of Games is on BBC Two at 6pm, a new episode with Maisie Adam, Ade Edmondson, Rickie Haywood-Williams and Sammi Kinghorn. Edmondson is the one I’d back to wind everyone else up. Strictly: It Takes Two is on at 6.30pm.

Suffragette – Film4, 6.40pm

Film4 has Suffragette at 6.40pm, the 2015 drama about women campaigning for the vote in the years before the First World War. Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep star. It runs two hours ten and finishes at 8.50pm, so it doesn’t clash with anything at 9pm.

Hollyoaks – E4, 7pm

Hollyoaks is on E4 at 7pm tonight, a new episode. Cindy and Imran’s storyline reaches a turning point, and a phone call pushes someone into a big decision. Half an hour, then The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air takes over at 7.30pm.

Burnham: Inside the First 100 Days – ITV1, 7.15pm

ITV1 has a Tonight special at 7.15pm. Reporter Daniel Hewitt follows Andy Burnham, the new Prime Minister, through his first 100 days in office, with behind-the-scenes access. It’s 45 minutes, and a fair warm-up if you’re staying up for the American midterms.

EastEnders – BBC One, 7.30pm

EastEnders is on BBC One at 7.30pm for half an hour. Denise sets a scheme for her family in motion, Linda frets about her kids and Ian lends a hand to a pal.

Prime Time

MasterChef: The Professionals – BBC One, 8pm

MasterChef: The Professionals starts its new series on BBC One at 8pm. Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti are back at the pass, and six chefs begin the contest. The opening test is a two-person skills challenge built around a crab raviolo, and you can see the nerves. This is episode one of 21, so settle in for the long haul. It’s on iPlayer afterwards.

Highland Cops – BBC Two, 8pm

Highland Cops is on BBC Two at 8pm, the second episode of a six-part run. Officers in Inverness deal with a large haul of cannabis, a missing man is searched for in Glencoe, and one callout turns into a siege. More tense than the title lets on.

The Great British Bake Off – Channel 4, 8pm

The Great British Bake Off is on Channel 4 at 8pm and runs for 75 minutes. It’s Free-From week: no gluten, no dairy, no animal products, which knocks most of the bakers’ usual tricks out of play. Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson are judging. Tempting Fortune follows at 9.15pm.

Emmerdale – ITV1, 8pm

Emmerdale is on ITV1 at 8pm tonight, its usual slot. Caleb has it out with Ruby, Marlon finds himself tempted and Charity puts on a performance.

Top Gear – BBC Three, 8pm

Top Gear is on BBC Three at 8pm, an episode from series 22 that first aired in 2015, with Jeremy Clarkson and James May. There’s a Peugeot nostalgia trip and some hot hatchbacks. Old, yes, but if you miss Clarkson and May, here they are.

Anna Pigeon Mysteries – Drama, 8pm

Drama has a new Anna Pigeon Mysteries at 8pm, called The Rope. Anna is trapped deep underground in a cave with only her memories for company. Father Brown is on at 9pm.

Coronation Street – ITV1, 8.30pm

Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8.30pm tonight. Idris asks Brody to commit an act of sabotage at the factory, while Adam and Daniel have a fight in the street. Gary and Marco are still thinking about Ross’s words, and Kit feels smothered by Bernie’s fussing. Unbelievable Moments: Caught on Camera is on at 9pm.

Blue Lights – BBC One, 9pm ⭐

Blue Lights ends its fourth series on BBC One at 9pm tonight. If you only watch one TV show tonight, make it this. The section are dealing with the fallout from the explosion, and a piece of evidence turns out to matter far more than anyone expected. It’s episode six of six, so an hour to tie off every loose end.

What I like about this Belfast police drama is that its officers are frightened and short of backup most of the time, and a finale is where that pressure should peak. Behind? The whole series is on iPlayer, so you can catch up first, but stay off social media until you have. BBC One flags strong language and distressing scenes, so not one for the kids.

QI XL – BBC Two, 9pm

QI XL is back on BBC Two at 9pm with the first episode of a new series. Sandi Toksvig hosts, with Desiree Burch, Gyles Brandreth, Sheila Hancock and Alan Davies. Hancock and Brandreth on the same panel should be fun. It’s on iPlayer afterwards, and Pointless Celebrities follows at 9.45pm.

Gogglebox – E4, 9pm

Gogglebox is on E4, not Channel 4, at 9pm tonight. It’s episode nine of series 21, with episode ten straight after at 10pm. Neither is flagged as new. Channel 4’s big show tonight is Bake Off at 8pm.

Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild – Channel 5, 9pm

Channel 5 has Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild at 9pm, a new episode. Ben heads to rural France to meet Mark, an ex-tech salesman who left corporate life and turned a derelict farm into a home. It’s on 5 afterwards. Our preview of tonight’s Ben Fogle has the full story and the series so far.

Matt Baker: Our Barn in the Dales – More4, 9pm

More4 has the new series of Matt Baker: Our Barn in the Dales at 9pm. The conversion hits a setback when Matt and the team find that a wall needs knocking down and rebuilding. The old Dodge makes a return too. It’s on Channel 4 streaming afterwards.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – Film4, 9pm

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is on Film4 at 9pm, running until 11.35pm. The 2014 sequel stars Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell and Andy Serkis, with the survivors of the simian flu running into a growing ape society. Best of the reboot trilogy, for my money. A ten-minute interview special with Martin McDonagh goes out first, at 8.50pm.

Have I Got a Bit More News for You – Dave, 9pm

Dave has Have I Got a Bit More News for You at 9pm, with Clive Myrie guest hosting. Dave also has an older QI XL at 10pm, a different episode from tonight’s new one on BBC Two, followed by 8 Out of 10 Cats at 11pm.

Late Night

Allies in Exile – BBC Four, 10pm

BBC Four has Allies in Exile at 10pm, a Storyville documentary about two Syrian film-makers, Hasan Kattan and Fadi Al-Halabi, living in exile. At 10.40pm a second Storyville film, An Unknown Substance, follows Evgenia Kara-Murza and her imprisoned husband. Heavy going, but both are short.

Tall Tales & Murder – BBC One, 10.40pm

Tall Tales & Murder starts on BBC One at 10.40pm, a new six-part comedy drama set in a Dublin care home. Ella Lily Hyland plays Bridget, who gets drawn into a mystery involving a gangster patient waking from a coma and some buried treasure. Too late for you? The full series is already on iPlayer, and it went out on BBC One Northern Ireland on Monday night.

US Midterm Elections 2026 – BBC One, 11.30pm

BBC One’s US midterm results coverage starts at 11.30pm with Clive Myrie, Sumi Somaskanda and Caitriona Perry. It runs two and a half hours, with more from 2am as the Senate and House results come in.

Earlier in the day, Sky History has the new series Bradley Walsh: Out of This World at 1pm, with the presenter looking into some of the planet’s great unexplained mysteries. On the rest of the dial, ITV2 has The 1% Club at 8pm and Big Brother at 9pm, ITV3 has a two-hour Vera at 8pm, ITV4 has The Motorbike Show at 8pm and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning at 10pm, Legend has the western Two Rode Together at 9pm and 5USA has a new Law & Order: SVU at 9pm.

Final Verdict

Blue Lights at 9pm is the one I’d build the night around, with MasterChef at 8pm as the warm-up on BBC One. Bake Off clashes with MasterChef, so somebody in the house will be recording one of them.

If you’ve got TNT, Villa in Barcelona is the obvious football. For a quieter finish there’s QI XL, or the Storyville films on BBC Four if you’re in a serious mood. And the US election results run on BBC One into the small hours.

TV Radar Team is the byline on TV Radar's automatically generated TV guides — covering BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and beyond. Each evening's schedule is built from the published listings (titles, start times, run lengths and episode numbers) and checked against our listings data before publication, so you can decide in two minutes what to record and what to skip. These guides are generated automatically rather than written by hand; a human editor spot-checks them, but not every page is read before it goes live. Based in London, updated every day.
