FilmWhat’s on TV tonight, Saturday 24 October 2026: Strictly Come Dancing is live on BBC One at 6.30pm, the semi-final of The Voice UK is on ITV1 at 8.35pm, and Lesley Manville stars in Marble Hall Murders on BBC One at 9.20pm. BBC Two gives its evening to Amy Winehouse from 8.35pm, and Match of the Day is on BBC One at 10.30pm.
That’s the short version of tonight’s television listings. EastEnders isn’t on, as usual for a Saturday, and the clocks go back at 2am on Sunday, so the late films cost you nothing.
Quick Picks: Tonight’s Best
- Strictly Come Dancing BBC One, 6.30pm. Live until 8.35pm.
- The Voice UK ITV1, 8.35pm. The semi-final.
- Marble Hall Murders BBC One, 9.20pm. Episode five of six.
- Amy Winehouse Night BBC Two, from 8.35pm. Twenty years of Back to Black.
- Shaun of the Dead Film4, 9pm. Still very funny.
- EastEnders is not on tonight. It returns Monday 26 October at 7.30pm on BBC One.
Watch: What’s On TV Tonight
Early Evening (3.45pm – 6.30pm)
Final Score – BBC One, 3.45pm
Final Score is on BBC One at 3.45pm, with Jason Mohammad running through the afternoon’s results until 5.25pm. It’s the quickest way to find out how your team got on if you’ve been out all day.
Tipping Point: Lucky Stars – ITV1, 5pm
Tipping Point: Lucky Stars is on ITV1 at 5pm. Ben Shephard hosts the celebrity edition, with Harry Judd, Patrick Grant and Angela Barnes taking turns at the coin machine. It’s for charity, which makes the losses easier to watch.
The Great British Bake Off – Channel 4, 5.15pm
The Great British Bake Off is on Channel 4 at 5.15pm and it’s Dessert Week. Puddings are where confident bakers come unstuck. A cream that won’t set or a base that cracks, and the judges have their material. It runs to 6.30pm.
The Celebrity Inner Circle – BBC One, 5.45pm
The Celebrity Inner Circle is on BBC One at 5.45pm, episode seven of eight. Kojey Radical, Max Fosh, Dame Denise Lewis, Stevie Martin and Sara Davies are each paired with a contestant, and the game is about working out whom to trust. A decent warm-up for Strictly.
The Guns of Navarone – BBC Two, 6pm
The Guns of Navarone is on BBC Two at 6pm, the 1961 war adventure with Gregory Peck and David Niven as part of a team sent to wreck two huge guns on a Greek island. It’s over two and a half hours long and very old-fashioned, which is most of the appeal. Pick this over Strictly and your evening is sorted until 8.35pm.
Midsomer Murders – ITV3, 4pm
ITV3 has a Midsomer Murders marathon from 4pm, three two-hour episodes, with Death and Dust at 6pm and Picture of Innocence at 8pm. Vera follows at 10pm and Inspector Morse at 11.50pm, so the channel doesn’t stray far from a body in a country house all night.
Darts: European Championship – ITV4, 6pm
The last 16 of the Darts: European Championship finishes on ITV4 from 6pm to 10pm, with the quarter-finals on Sunday. Four hours of free-to-air darts. Our darts on TV guide has the other dates.
The Chase Celebrity Special – ITV1, 6.30pm
The Chase Celebrity Special is on ITV1 at 6.30pm. Bradley Walsh hosts, and Adam Jones, Monica Dolan, Dom Wood and Dick McCourt are taking on the Chaser for charity. It goes head to head with Strictly, and it’s ITV’s answer for anyone who’d rather shout at quiz questions than at the judges.
Prime Time (6.30pm onwards)
Strictly Come Dancing – BBC One, 6.30pm ⭐
Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One at 6.30pm tonight, and it’s my pick of the evening. The live show runs for two hours and five minutes, finishing at 8.35pm.
Late October is when it gets serious. The stumbles everyone laughed at in September now cost somebody their place, and a couple who coasted for weeks can be in the dance-off after one bad routine.
You can have strong views on the paso doble or watch purely for the costumes. Both are fine.
Win Win with Postcode Lottery – ITV1, 7.30pm
Win Win with Postcode Lottery is on ITV1 at 7.30pm, with Mel and Sue hosting a new episode ahead of next week’s 1m finale. It clashes with Strictly, which tells you who ITV thinks is watching.
Secrets of the Viking Ship with Bettany Hughes – Channel 4, 8pm
Secrets of the Viking Ship with Bettany Hughes is on Channel 4 at 8pm. A grave find in Estonia is the starting point for a question about whether the Viking Age began earlier than the usual dates suggest. It’s a new programme, and Hughes is good at making a pile of old bones feel like a mystery.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – ITV2, 8pm
ITV2 has Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore from 8pm to 10.45pm, with a short break. Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law lead the 2022 film, and the later Family Guy and American Dad! episodes follow.
The Voice UK – ITV1, 8.35pm
The Voice UK is on ITV1 at 8.35pm and it’s the semi-final, which means three artists left on each team and only one per coach going through to the final. Two out of three go home. That’s a brutal cut. It runs for two hours, to 10.35pm.
Wisdom of the Crowd – BBC One, 8.35pm
Wisdom of the Crowd is on BBC One at 8.35pm, episode six of eight, in which contestants play against a studio crowd for up to 30,000 pounds. It fills the gap before the drama.
Amy Winehouse Night – BBC Two, 8.35pm
Amy Winehouse Night is on BBC Two from 8.35pm and marks 20 years since Back to Black. Amy Winehouse at the BBC starts it off, then at 9.35pm Amy Winehouse: Back to Black at 20 sees Jo Whiley host a live performance of the whole album at the Roundhouse in Camden. Amy Winehouse in Her Own Words is at 10.35pm, and her 2007 Glastonbury set closes the night at 11pm. If you only have an hour, make it the Roundhouse.
Alan Carr: My Best Bits & More – Channel 5, 8.35pm
Alan Carr: My Best Bits & More is on Channel 5 at 8.35pm, a new career retrospective with the comedian and chat show host. It’s the kind of programme that’s mostly clips, and mostly enjoyable. The Most Embarrassing TV Chat Show Moments follows at 10.05pm.
Celebrity Gogglebox – E4, 9pm
Celebrity Gogglebox is on E4 at 9pm, followed by two regular episodes of Gogglebox at 10pm and 11.05pm. The celebrity edition looks like a repeat. Fine if you missed it first time.
Wallander – Drama, 9pm
Wallander is on Drama at 9pm. Kenneth Branagh stars in The Troubled Man, the final story in the Swedish detective’s run, and it’s a gloomy, sad end for a character who was never cheerful. It lasts two hours.
Shaun of the Dead – Film4, 9pm
Shaun of the Dead is on Film4 at 9pm. Simon Pegg’s zombie comedy from 2004 has aged better than most comedies of its decade, and I still laugh at it. Last Night in Soho follows at 10.55pm, and our films on TV this week page has the rest of the week’s films.
Our Man Flint – Talking Pictures TV, 9.10pm
Our Man Flint is on Talking Pictures TV at 9.10pm, the 1966 spy spoof with James Coburn as a super-agent who is smoother than Bond. It’s very much of its time, though the gadgets are a joy. Certificate PG.
Marble Hall Murders – BBC One, 9.20pm
Marble Hall Murders is on BBC One at 9.20pm, episode five of six. Lesley Manville plays Susan Ryeland, who goes to see Charles in prison this week. It’s the follow-up to Magpie Murders, and Manville plays the editor who can’t leave a puzzle alone with a dry, impatient edge I’d happily watch for six more episodes. It’s over by 10.10pm, when BBC News takes over.
The Seventh Seal – BBC Four, 9.30pm
The Seventh Seal is on BBC Four at 9.30pm, Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 film about a knight who plays chess with Death. It’s certificate PG and it deserves its five-star reputation, though it’s a lot lighter than the title suggests. Bergman and the Cinema follows at 11.05pm.
Late Night
Match of the Day – BBC One, 10.30pm
Match of the Day is on BBC One at 10.30pm, with five Premier League games in 70 minutes. Fans of the teams in the pay-TV games will have seen them already, but the highlights remain the best way to see the rest.
Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening – ITV1, 10.45pm
Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening is on ITV1 at 10.45pm, episode two, with Mel B, Jonathan Ross and Richard Madeley as the guests. Simple premise, kind mood. English Football League Highlights follows at 11.45pm.
Last Night in Soho – Film4, 10.55pm
Last Night in Soho is on Film4 at 10.55pm, Edgar Wright’s 2021 thriller with Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy and Matt Smith. A young designer slips back to the 1960s every time she falls asleep, and the dream turns ugly. It’s stylish and a bit overstuffed, and the neon looks great.
On the rest of the dial, Channel 4 has The Equalizer 2 at 9pm with Denzel Washington, and BBC One closes with the 2023 film Cat Person at 11.40pm. 5USA runs NCIS: Los Angeles until 10pm, then Law & Order: SVU. Legend has The Taking of Pelham 123 at 9pm, GREAT! Action has The Ice Road at 6.45pm and The Gunman at 9pm, and 5Action has For a Few Dollars More at 9pm. Dave has Not Going Out from 8.25pm, Quest has two episodes of The Repair Shop at 9pm, Yesterday has Bangers & Cash at 8pm and More4 has 24 Hours in A&E at 9pm. Sky Arts has David Gilmour: Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome at 9pm, and BBC Three has Doctor Who repeats from 7pm.
Sport
Free-to-air sport is thin: the darts on ITV4, the football round-ups on BBC One, and the Gymnastics World Championships on BBC Two from 1pm to 5pm. The live Premier League on TV is all pay TV, with Aston Villa v Manchester City at 12.30pm on TNT Sports 1 and Chelsea v Tottenham at 5.30pm on Sky Sports Main Event. Check football on TV today for the rest of the day’s games. Early risers can find the Rugby League World Cup on Premier Sports 1, with England v France at 7.35am and Australia Women v England Women at 10.05am. See rugby on TV and sport on TV today for the full list.

Final Verdict
Make Strictly your Saturday starter at 6.30pm, then choose between The Voice UK semi-final on ITV1 and Amy Winehouse Night on BBC Two for the next two hours. Marble Hall Murders at 9.20pm is the best drama of the evening.
Staying up? Shaun of the Dead into Match of the Day is my double bill.
